Cool Hand Luke

Cool Hand Luke has always been one of my favorite films ever since I was a kid, don't really know why. There is a lot of talent in that film, Strother Martin, who worked with John Wayne a lot and Paul Newman a couple of times, George Kennedy, Ralph Waite in one of his first roles, Dennis Hopper, and a few others. It's just one of those movies that clicks.

Guess I'm getting old. I see Lucille washing the car and think, by today's standards, (check out any Victoria's Secret catalog), she'd be considered fat.

Strother Martin is IMO the greatest character actor of all time. Here's is an interview of Luke Askew (you'll know him when you see him) where he talks a lot about Cool Hand Luke and Strother Martin.

Who can answer the question:

How many hard boiled eggs did he eat?

The film is probably the one cinematic effort that is most dense with quality character actors and blossoming stars.

Askew passed away two years ago in Portland.

Reminds me of the time...........

I was sitting in the empty section of a restaurant and a waitress just decided to wipe the next table in front me. That table must have been really dirty because she bent over and wiped and wiped and wiped for the longest time. I remember that for some reason I felt really good the rest of the day.:):):):):)

Actor Wayne Rogers is really the picture of rehabilitation. He's on a southern chain gang in his youth, eventually becomes a doctor working a MASH unit in Korea, and ends up an expert on the stock market on FOX NEWS. Amazing!

I had to be careful picking one to post here, there are quite a few that would earn a man a night in the box.
