Costco Members?

Savings on gas pays for my membership. Some food items are tremendous bargains - a 16 ounce bottle of pure vanilla extract costs about the same as 4 ounces at Walmart. A 52 lb bag of Pedigree dog food costs only a dollar or two more than a 40 lb bag at Walmart. (we buy multiple bags per month).

Get an executive membership. We get a rebate for buying gas with the AE credit card, also for dining and travel. I think the cost is $100 and the rebate has a ceiling of $200 but ours average $150+ annually. Just keep receipts and pay it off on time. We switched auto, motorcycle and home insurance to their program and saved over $650 a year on what we had been paying through a company we had been with for 33 years.

They come to my workplace have sign-up day. Ya get a $10 cash card with $50 sign up.

Their steaks and other meats keep me re-upping. And they make a damn good pepperoni pizza to go for $10!

I love Costco. I still have 20 gallons of mayo from the 55 gallon drum I bought back in 1984.

I'll ship you 20 gallons of ketchup from my 55 gallon drum and you can make Russian Dressing!

GREAT store - we go once a week and other than a Gun Store, Cigar Shop or Lionel Train Store it's my favorite place to shop. I find it hard to resist all the food samples they hand out and asides from the crowded parking lot I really don't mind going shipping there (actually I enjoy it but won't tell my wife that). Plus you NEVER know what you will find down one of the isles...........

Plus they had the cheapest gas on Oahu in 2009 when we were there.

Definitely worth the cost even if you don't live in Hawaii.

Aloha,

Consider yourself Lucky to have Cabelas

Hawaii does not have Any Bass Pro, Cabelas, Gander Mt or similar

There is only me and the Wife and 3 dogs.

We find it worth while to shop at Costco and Sam's Club.

You just have to know your prices.

Both do not always stock what you want.

They do send you coupon booklets with monthly specials.

Living in Hawaii, we tend to stock up because they may not have it again for a Long time if ever.

I have the executive membership, I havnt found anywhere with such good steak and lamb. I buy the filet loin and cut it up yum:D The wife and I do the bi weekly shopping great if you have a big function.

I had been a Sams Club member for about 15 years until last Oct..My local club was really getting shabby..So I tried Costco..Not impressed..I really dislike the food section..Very few big name's, seems like they push their house brand Kirklands..I am talking about spices, mixes and such..
What with a new Sams Club opening just few miles from me, I'll go back to them..
But really, I don't see many deals at either SC or Costco..

Our's actually has whole suckling pigs and lambs.

A few years back a friend (non-professional mechanic but a very good one) who bought premium gas found his air cleaner was dirty with black soot. He never bought gas from them again. My BIL who worked for Shell said they delivered gas there. But I believe they had a different supplier before Shell.

As for dog food, I won't buy Kirkland brand can/wet food, chicken jerky (Kingdom Pets) and monthly flea meds. Dog got sick on their can food. I have a cupboard full of it I have to throw out. The jerky is made in China and flea meds is the same ingredients as BioSpot (some dogs don't take it well). The dry food is made by Eukenuba and is okay.

I go once a month to buy a few items and meats; items which you use a lot like condiments, drinks, snacks, etc. Items I occasionally use I will buy at a grocery store. Meats I will cut up and vacuum seal them for the freezer or cut beef (the cheap stuff) into strips for jerky (George Foreman grill & dehydrator) then vacuum seal it. Makes good snacks.

All gasoline from Billings to Spokane along I 90 comes from the Conoco pipeline. It might be branded whatever but it originates in Laurel, MT and is sold under whoever picks it up at their transfer stations.

This. Gasoline is funny how it's branded, but mostly it's just whatever the distributors have that goes out to the retail stations.

I think Gulf might be an exception, but I'm not even sure of that.

I grew up near Seattle, and my parents became members in the early 80s, and I followed suit. They have excellent return policies, add an additional year to electronics warranties, and they pay their employees a decent living wage with good benefits, which is something the Walton family chooses not to do in their stores. My one gripe would be that their gasoline is garbage, at least in southern Oregon. My wife is a service writer, and three out of four times if she has a customer with a failing catalytic converter and she asks them if they shop for gas at primarily one place, and if so where they say either Costco or Fred Meyer. The techs at the dealership claim it is a lack of additives in their fuel.

Agree with many others, Costco is a really great store. Also, agree with mtgianni, the Executive Membership and AE Card is an excellent way to receive rebates. We've been Costco members for many years (began in the late '80s in Spokane, WA) and receive enough in rebates to pay for our membership plus.

I refuse to shop at Costco. You're supporting the guy in the WH. Last election the ownership of Costco which most live in Portland Or. Had a benefit dinner for the "O". I do believe it was much more than $1000 per plate. It was more like $19.5K the maximum allowed to be donated to the "O" and the DNC, why give your $$$$$ to the democrats?? Not meant to be political, but I can't understand why anyone would spend money on someone who would just as soon smelt your S&W's down.

Been a member since 83 when they opened their first store. We were feeding four teenage boys at the time and man that was a lifesaver! As far as politics go, if you refuse to frequent stores that donate to "that party"(regardless of which one that is), chances are pretty good you're gonna go hungry! Businesses hedge their bets and usually donate to the party they think will be in power........and it's usually nothing personal.

I joined Price Club in 1964 and continued that right into Costco. I have shopped with Costco mainly in the West, but have some experience with them back East. IMHO, they are heads and shoulders above any other big box wholesale outlet. I think they are the best managed outlet store ever! They even feature the very best rated mass produced kibble dog food at a very reasonable price. BTW, I met Mr. Price in the Riverside, CA store along with one of his sons. He is a very interesting guy with a great story. ......... Big Cholla
