I had a local gunsmith convert a 629 for me. I found a mountain gun barrel and had him re-chamber the cylinder. I now have sort of a square butt mountain gun in 45 colt with correct throats. It shoots great.

Looks great, Glad you "made it your own".

If I may, how much did your gunsmith charge.

I talked to my "guy" about a similar conversion and I don't think he was interested in doing it. He quoted me an outrageous price.

All said and done including checking every function of it, fixing the endshake and repairing the slight pushoff was $400

Very nice. Try to buy one of the six (6) pre lock mim mountain gun 45 colts in circulation.
