County Commissioner makes all gun owners look bad

Someone should have known that "a wooded area" is not anything close to resembling a safe backstop!
What were they thinking? A common tree does a lousy job of stopping .50 BMG!

Dirt and sand- and enough of it are the only safe backstops!

Some time back a local police dept. ask for a demo of the 50 cal. I could not make it that weekend so I sent my Armalite by way of my friend on the force. Everyone was excited and all fired up to fire this monster when the chief shows up and says HELL NO ! We cant contain that thing here. My first thought was "you wus". I never said anything but should call and say I'm sorry for even thinking that after seeing this stuff. I would have come to the same conclusion if I had seen the range they intended to use. The 50 BMG is not to be taken lightly.

The idiotic thing about it is that the dirt "mound" they planned to stop the bullets was not even above the windows of the car they were shooting at. Hope he does more planning and thinking where governmental decisions are concerned.

The land owner should be down on his knees thanking God that nobody was hit! Gun enthusiast or not, I would would be campaigning against him at the next election.

Were there any mature adults present? Apparently not; and that includes the deputies.

Where shall we start?

Unsafe range, stupid and obviously unqualified range officers, indiscriminate firing, tomfoolery on the range, lack of common sense, juvenile behavior (let's blow up stuff), and total lack of concern for anyone but the imbeciles who were themselves involved.

I hope appropriate penalties are handed out.

Be safe.
