I've been getting calls from Credit Catd Services for months. No matter what I do, they keep calling wanting to help me lower my interest rates.

This happens several times a week. Am I the only one getting these calls?

Any ideas on how to stop them? Yes, I'm on the do not call list.

CARD SERVICES ANYONE?

I keep getting unsolicited calls from "Card Services." They use different phone numbers from different parts of the country to tell me that there is nothing wrong with my credit but they want to...I quit listening until one day I pressed the correct buttons to "talk to a representative." I then gave her a made-up name, address, etc., faked my way thru about 4 minutes of conversation, then asked her a question. I asked if I had wasted enough of her time as she was wasting mine. She immediately disconnected, and called back three times within five minutes just to harass me. Is this a big problem, or am I the only target out there? Yes, I'm on the No Call list.

Been getting them for about a year and a half, and we are on the do not call list.

They will, after enough hangups put you into their warning phase that they are not going to contact you any more, I've gotten two calls last week and three such calls this week.

I will survive.

I've got a neat feature on my Panasonic home phones, where I can "save" a number to my phone book, and when I do it offers to "block calls" for me so right after one of these bozo's calls, they get "saved" to "block calls".

It takes a number of calls to "save" the range of BS phone numbers that call, but it's worthwhile. Panasonic DTECT 6.0 or some such is the home phone brand.

Once the call is received just place the receiver down on something, let them chat as you go about your business.
Works rather well and is fun at the same time.

Verizon offers a neat feature where the name and phone numbers ringing in show up on my TV screen. If I don't recognize it, I don't answer it.

If I don't recognize the name, or the caller ID only gives a number, or says "Blocked number", I don't answer. I figger if it's important, they'll leave a message. If it wasn't important enough for them to leave a message, it certainly wasn't important enough for me to answer.

For the few times that I, through long engrained habit, answer the phone without checking caller ID, I be rude. That's difficult, at first, because, like most my age, I was raised to be polite. But I say NO. Not even "No thank you, I'm not interested". Just NO. If that doesn't work, I get nasty. Usually profane. Quite often loud.

That usually works. Makes me feel better too, and lowers my stress levels.

We have been getting calls from them also. My wife and I both have pressed the 1 to speak to a person and let them know not to call anymore, as well as pressing 3 to be removed from their call list. NOTHING works !!! I, as well am on the DNCL, but does not matter to them. I think the way they get around that is by you having to press a number(1) to speak to a person. So you ask for their service.

We keep an air horn by the phone -- usually takes just one "foghorn"
warning -- we get no return calls.

I have to admit that once I get through to an actual human, they know real fast how upset I am with them... you can actually see the air turn blue around me I've been told...but I make sure there are no women or small children around first.

Say "Hi" to Rachel for me. She apparently believed me last time she called, and hasn't called back. Nice to have at least one woman call once in a while.

the the do not call registry does nothing here because they aren't actually selling anything, thus, they are technically not telemarketers.
even if they didnt operate on this technicality, whats the point in the do not call list without any enforcement. without it, the snakes are on the honor system.

Yesterday I started (as always) with "What was your name again?" The guy hung up immediately. Strange.

I may just try talking to them in the future - "Hi Jim - What are you wearing?"

The problem with the "Do not call list" is that if you have ever done business with them then its ok for them to call. Or if you made a call to them, Then its also ok for them to call. At my house we just look at the caller ID and then turn the ringer off for that call. I will answer if I know the number. If you need me that bad then you will leave a message or email me. And yes I am that important. HAHAHAHA
