I'm thinking I'm about the only CS9/CS45 lover in the world....

You seldom hear comments about these, what I consider fine 3rd Gen Smith pistols, unless it's about how the grip is too thick..

Well, perhaps I'm the only one with screwed up size hands, but my CS9 & CS45 fit my medium sized paws just fine.

Anytime you see a thread about the 3rd Gen Smith pistols it's generally about the 3913LS or 5906 or 6906 (I have 'em all), but never the CS9 or CS45...

I've found both of my Chief's Specials to be very accurate, absolutely reliable, (as I've found all 3gS's to be) and make excellent cc choices..

The lack of popularity for these two Smith & Wesson 3gSmiths is a puzzle to me.

I personally don't own any 3rd Gen's. (ok rag on me later about it, but I got something in the works) I prefer the looks to the Chief Special over the other models, so I would say that I am favorable to the CS.

lots of posts here on the cs so you're far from alone in your appreciation of this fine gun. I absolutely love mine. Am waiting on a set of BigDog delrin grips; am sure it will only further my appreciation for this gun.

I was lucky enough to get a CS9 recently from a forum member complete with a set of Big Dog grips. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet but in dry firing it seems to fit my hand well and will suit my needs just fine. I would say that it is one of my keepers because it fills a niche that a P3AT doesn't and my 3914 is too large for.

Thanks for making the neat custom replacement grips for these pistols. I've been keeping track for some time and it seems like many, many CS owners love your custom grips in lieu of the thicker rubber ones that come on them from S&W..

I bought my CS9 just over a decade ago (January of 1999) and I just re-qualified with it for the 10th time last week. When the gunsmoke cleared, my qual score was 59 out of 60. This was on a course designed for full-size duty handguns, and the single miss was not the pistol's fault.

When I fist purchased the CS9, I thought it was the most size-efficient concealment firearm in the S&W line (in terms of cartride power and number of rounds in the magazine compared to the overall dimensions of the pistol). I still think it acquits itself quite well in that respect. During the time I've been using it, I have also found it to be utterly reliable, and far more accurate than it has any right to be.

I'm not sure how many rounds have cycled through my CS9, but it is safe to assume at least a couple thousand. In all that shooting I can't recall a single malfunction. I keep thinking I should replace the recoil spring and the mag springs as a precaution, but I haven't gotten around to it yet and the CS9 doesn't seem to mind.

In all this rambling I hope you picked up on the fact that I am a HUGE fan of the CS9. Stated succinctly, it is one firearm that I will never part with.

Sam,

I'm not a 40cal. kinda guy, but I will probably try and pick up a CS40 one day just to complete my CS "trifecta"..

I'm a retired old fart and my "play money" is kinda hard to come by, so I have to "save up" to buy something new, and right now my fund for guns is depleted...

For some reason I felt the need for "another" 12ga pump shotgun recently and the money spent for that purpose cleaned me out... But I'm of the opinion that the only thing better for home defense than a 12ga pump riot shotgun is, TWO riot shotguns...

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Hi Jesse,
We had this discussion over on GPDO, you have quite a fine taste in firearms. These days who doesn't need to save up for the toys.

My home defense shotgun is in the form of a Baretta 1200 20".

Cheers,
Sam

Shorty:

My wife of over 40 years has been a darlin' about my little firearm collection, and last week we bought her a new Hustler FasTrack SuperDuty ZTR mower...

It was money well spent (we have 4+ acres to mow weekly) because she loves mowing grass but hated our old conventional riding mower.. She LOVES the new ZTR.

But that little purchase is going to play heck with our discretionary money for a while..

Luckily, I'm relatively well armed already.

I much appreciate the CS9 and the CS45 but oddly enough for a .45 guy, the CS40 has really become a favorite. I like the extra zip in the .40 cal., even if not enough other folks did and it was discontinued! The grip is great on all these for non-concealment, and doesn't slip in the hand like the Delrin can.

I have learned that the grip on these fine pistols are like anything else in firearms most do not like them and find them uncomfortable to shoot the little cannon with. I have found that with the desire to carry a smaller weapon for CCW many do like the Delrin Grip and find it much more fitting to their hands without any problem holding due to the oversized palm swell being gone. I have produced over 70 sets of these grips that I make since mid last year and daily recieve e mails from new people wanting them for their pistols also.
If anyone has interest in my grips please e mail me at [email protected]

I like em' all personally. Notice the CS45 with Big Dog's grips installed. Eventually would love to have a set for the CS9. The 3913 is a personal carry fav as well.

Firehouse,
Very nice trifecta there!
Hows does the Big Dogs work for you on that little cannon?

Hi PX-15.Now you know that Mikey absolutely loves his CS9 with Big Dog's Delrin Grips and a DAO conversion and trigger job.I am a guy with relatively small hands and the CS9 fits me perfectly once I fixed the Hogue grip problem. You will find that there is a strong CS9,Cs40,and Cs45 fan club here. The only reason I don't have a CS45 is that Ginny has banned me from buying any 45 cals because my dad in law will be sending me his duty gun in the not to distant future.....God Bless......Mike
