Curious to know a couple of things. What are the advantages and disadvantages on custom barrels. I have a MP 9 and have seen a storm lake barrel. Is this a good idea, also what other companies manufacture them?

I got my Storm Lake Ext bbl for my MP
9 FS today. Clean cycle with dummies ,then to
my C2 to thread it for my can. BBL looked
very nice and was tight. Good Luck
BBL to small for my can. Sending it back.
Very nice bbl, just not large enough for my
can.

Custom barrels that have chambers cut for the purpose you have in mind, and are fitted to the individual gun usually produce better accuracy.

Drop-in custom barrels with too-tight chambers for the trash ammunition being used gain nothing in accuracy and lose a lot in reliability.

Unless you can consistently shoot under 4" at 25yd with your MP, I'd spend the money on ammunition and lessons, not a Storm Lake barrel.

In othre words, a custom-fit barrel for a specific purpose is often worth it. Installing a drop-in just because somebody said it's neat is often a waste of money and sometimes a headache. I see them on the range, and can track their location by the cussing.

Thanks for the info. I'm probably going to hold off for a few and put my priority on shooting more accurately first, then modifying later. Man enough to say that!
