I just picked-up a J frame .32 S&W Long. If I pull the trigger back enough to dis-engage the cylinder stop and rotate the cylinder, it seems to get tighter in one area as it rotates. Always the same area?

Is this a bent ejector rod issue, or something else?

The gun seems to work, but if you milk the trigger back, you may not get the cylinder stop to engage completely in the cylinder notch.

You are correct; based on the symptom that you describe, the first place to look is a possible bent ejector rod.

Thanks. I ordered a new one on eBay to see if that works. Not sure if there’s any fitting involved. My current one is buggered from someone tightening it with plyers. So a new one is kind of in order anyway.

I have the removal tool I bought years ago. Should I wrap masking tape around the rod to prevent marring prior to clamping down the tool?

If you have the proper tool no padding necessary, A drill chuck also works well with hand power only.

Last one I had turned to have an out of square yoke face.

A "tool" I've found very handy to have around the work bench is friction tape. Kids at the hardware store don't have a clue. You have to find a geezer.
Being in AZ. might not help either. It's also known as hockey tape.

This may also be the cause, as my ejector rod doesn’t really seem like it’s bent?

Mark the yoke face with a marker or such and rotate the cylinder on it with pressure. The whole surface should be shiny metal. Marker indicates a low spot.

Make sure the gun is clean and try removing various parts to isolate the problem first. If you have a yoke face shim put that in and if out of square the binding should be more severe.
