Cylinder Sleeving

I have a K frame 38 caliber cylinder and yoke assembly that has the correct dimensions to fit a model 53. Last year a tread was introduced asking about rechambering for 22 LR in a 53, but I want to chamber for 22 Mag, just for fun and hopefully to get around the loose 22 in a magnum barrel.

My question is, if I make a sleeve for the 38 (or 357) chambers, fit it with Brownells high temp epoxy and ream for 22 Magnum, am I making a big technical mistake?

I figure I would pick up a 22 lr extractor and hog it out during the chamber reaming, or just get a 22 mag extractor and fit that.

Seems like a reasonably straight forward project, but usually when I think that, I am overlooking some significant issue.

It sounds like it would work, are the clyinders the same O.D.? If you do this I would turn up the blanks and ream with 22 mag reamer at the same time to keep them concentric. I made several barrels for a High Standard and used 22 cal barrel liner in them and I expoxied the liners in the .900 o.d. barrels, then ran them through a 285 degree bluing bath and they never let loose this was in 1981, you would have to change hammers, I dont know about timing issues. Thanks for your thoughts Jeff, Makes sense to do all of the machining in one setup to keep things concentric, the timing issue remains a question, so I think I'll check the timing on the candidate cylinder and yoke. If timing is good on that assembly I should be OK on the finished product IF I do my job correctly. The hammer should work ok, the 53 has that trick hammer for selecting center or rimfire. thanks,
kurt
