I have been trying to contact our friend Cyrano for weeks, he didn't answer his phone or the private message I sent. Last night, I received a private message from his daughter. Apparently he was admitted to the hospital for atrial fibrillation and has been retained for more serious issues. He remains in ICU where he has been for more than two weeks.

For those of you unfamiliar with Cyrano, he is a long standing member here. He is a very knowledgeable collector of military firearms and a gentleman of the first order. Please keep him in your prayers. I hope to stay in touch with his daughter and will keep the forum advised of developments.

OLDNAVYMCPO, you are correct, Cyrano is an old school gentleman of the first order. Very well put. His knowledge of military firearms is one of the mainstays of this forum

I will pray for his rapid recovery, and for strength for him and his family.

Thank you for posting this, many for sharing with us. I look forward to seeing his informative posts again soon.

Best Regards, Les

Cyrano is a great Gent. He truly is a master with old school military weaponry and has helped me out. I am sending knee-mail for his recovery now. Lord-please help this fine person recover so he can again-lead his normal life. Amen,.

Good of you to reach out OlNav.
Fine fellow with a sense of humor and knack for the informative tale.
Wish him the best, in His name.

Always enjoyed his posts. Prayer from Texas for his complete healing.

I'm another Cyrano went out of his way to help. Also had some
dealings with him. He is a gentleman of the highest order.
Hope for him to have a speedy and full recovery.

His posts are among the wisest and most useful here. He's exceptionally knowledgeable about French items. Prayer sent.

Prayers sent.

What will happen of his collection? We need more collectors to keep history alive... Godspeed, Cyrano. :(

Do we have any good news yet?? I wasn't able to get here for anything yesterday due to work and weather. Hoping he is on the mend.....

Yes, he co-authored a book on the French Model 35 Pistols... out of print, but can sometimes be found on the used book market. A very knowledgeable, and is a true gentleman.

My prayers are still with him.

Best Regards, Les

I've e-mailed the daughter, called the house, and inquired at the hospital, all to no avail. The daughter has my phone number and e-mail address.

As to the question about his collection. I discussed this with him at our last meeting. He has made arrangements with two FFL's to sell his collection at his passing since the adult children have no interest. Two problems exist with that, one is that he has beau coup reloads, the other is a number of class III arms. Cyrano recognized this and hoped the problem could be dealt with by a long standing, gun dealer and friend. I don't really feel comfortable discussing his personal arrangements. I did tell his daughter that I would help in any way that I could. I'm just hoping for the best but am concerned that I have heard nothing new.

The hospital won't release any info because of privacy considerations. I've tried to circumvent that thru other channels but hit a wall there too.

My remaining option is for the daughter to reach out to me.
