? damaged barrels from walmart ammo??

By the way, not meant for the op, but the guy who said that.:)
Well if this ? gun smith ? does exist I have an old 38 with a round stuck in the barrel I would like for him to look into with his expertise

I am very pleased to have such a consistent pattern in response. I tried match in box numbers with manufacturers but that didn't work the way I wanted it to thanks to every one for the info. Good to know I don't have to worry on this matter!

There is a sign behind the counter in the store that says, " firearms used with walmart ammo will not be returned for service". Or some bull **** like that I asked and he answered. EVERY ONE disagrees with the explanation he gave me so I conclude, he was full of ****.

I have shot 400 rounds of the Winchester 115grain that I bought at Walmart. I have had 0 issues using it

I've used WM ammo for years and I've had maybe two duds out of thousands. I started getting ammo at Academy as well. Same story.

I had one jam in my HP 4095ts carbine with the wwb 40sw 165 and it's because the bullet sunk in the case.

There is no cure for stupid !!;)

I disagree. You can take a stupid person and mentor him and teach him and work with him and eventually he will be just fine.

What there is no cure for is dishonest!

You're still talking like you have a box of ammo marked "Wal Mart" and you are trying to figure out who makes it.

I've NEVER seen a box of ammunition with "Wal Mart" as the brand name. What ammo are you shooting?

I used to work in a gun shop and heard all the wild rumors about Walmart. I know alot of small shops hate the place because you can't compete with them. We would get wholesale catalogs in and rifle prices were the same as Walmarts retail prices. And no gun company is going to give that kind of a break to some local mom and pop shop.
If there's any hint of truth to your gunsmith's claim, it's probably that ammo companies are cranking out ammo fast to meet the panic buying that's been going on. There have been some quality control issues reported from some name brand companies. And, very likely, people bought that ammo at Walmart because Walmart had it in stock at reasonable prices while local shops were sold out, or only had the most expensive self defense ammo available on their shelves.
Take it all with a grain of salt. Lots of rumors flying around right now and it'll just get worse as we get closer to the next election.

I'm a believer in supporting my LGS,but I'm sure that this guy is happy to knock any big box store-Walmart just happens to be the closest.

My lgs suggested that I pick up my plinking ammo at Walmart. Ammo bought at Walmart may be cheap, maybe nasty, but it's factory ammo and unless it's some wild special load, perfectly appropriate for the S&W!

I went to the range today and put another 400 rounds down my barrel with the help of my stepfather who tagged along to do some shooting last time he shot any firearm was his 1911 during Vietnam. So I have a total of 1,600 rounds through my sd9ve. That is still 100% box stock other then me polishing the slide. Most of my ammo is from Walmart cause it's cheaper then the gun store by 3-5.00 per 100 rounds.

So far the ammo I have used has been the following

300 rounds Blazer brass
500 rounds Winchester
500 rounds Federal
150 rounds PPU
150 rounds Perfecta

The pistol had worked flawlessly with all the above but I have noticed that the federal ammo has a lot more muzzle flash then the others .

As far a accuracy goes between the ammo I can't tell since I am getting better every time I go shooting

Not only are there stories/rumors going around about ammo, but also the guns that WM sells. From being "cheaper made" to "not going through QC/same QC as guns that go to regular dealers". I know it's all bunk, but new shooters/hunters may not know and the misinformation continues to grow. :-(

My friend from a past (military) life works at a WalMart. They sell what they get to sell. Some of the stuff is foreign (CPI as opposed to SAMMI standards), and you have to decide to buy or not. Since all of my firearms are in warranty to some degree, I shoot SAMMI US production ammo. I do shoot some reloads in my .357.

What WalMart sells is valid. You have to decide about US / Foreign manufacture. There are WalMart packages (Federal does a series of boxes for them), but I've never had issues with them.

I did have issues with TulAmmo BrassMaxx made in Bosnia, sold at WalMart. But I knew I was buying "at risk". The same package was sold online by others, so I won't blame Wally World. You can't blame them for finding a supplier.

,
? issues with TulAmmo BrassMaxx ? Really what kind of issues ?
I just took a trip to the range after longer than normal time away so I took more than the normal amount of ammo.
100 TulAmmo BrassMaxx
50 Tulammo steelcase
100 Win White box
100 Perfecta
+ already had my 3 mags loaded with 45 rounds of Federal.
All came from WM & my SD9ve or I could not tell one from the other, not one problem.
,
"at risk " what does that mean ?
