Curious as to vintage - 4K94xxx. Standard hammer and trigger. Decent shape for the gun but the finish on the grips shows some wear - rolling around in a drawer possibly. Does not appear to have been fired much. Very tight and no frame cutting.

It was dirty so I cleaned it up a little before showing here. No box, doc's or tools. Does have the SS sights. Were the red ramps available on these?

Oh, was not looking for one but the price was a little too attactive to me to walk away from. How did I do and what's the going rate for one in this condition?

NICE!!! Most of the time it can be a waste of time but that shows why it's worht it!

I like the ampersand on the left side of the barrel.

The red insert front sight and blued rear sight assembly seem to have shown up around 7K2xxxx for the 4".

The ampersand had me wondering for a while, had not seen that before as I'm new to this game, but everything looked legit.

As for the pawn shop - 27 miles South of no place. Saw it late in the day, looked promising but closed. Snow storm hits and before I headed out of that town I wandered back in (must have hit 8 extremely rural ones this week). Looked like several old smith's actually - 41's and 44's mostly. I did not even bother to look at the P&R SS engraved snubbie at $2,750 though.

Nice! I've got one exactly like it, total stainless sights and all. Sweet shooter and the very best trigger of all my revolvers. Enjoy!

If I was looking for something it was a 2.5" 66-1 to go with the 4" and 6" that I already have in 66-1.

But at $410 OTD what could I do?

There's nothing you could do, it's simply irresistible. I remember when I purchased mine I looked it over, asked if I could try the trigger, tried and said, "Get the paperwork ready."

Welcome to the 66 no dash club. I got a 1972 version. The absolute best DA trigger I've ever seen. No 1000 rounds of 125grain 357s through it just 38s, +Ps or 158 grain 357s if you must shoot magnums. They are one of S&Ws finest ever.

Fine looking revolver. Sounds like you've got a pretty nice 66 collection going.

Uh that could be a problem, first one was just before Christmas, then one in January, then February....

Don't think I'm Bride Approved for "Gun of the Month Club":D

They are really that nice and wonderful shooters.

The wife and I have two dozen Smiths (only one with a lock) but we don't have a 66. The Model 66 no dash is a great investment, prices are soaring on these things.
I'd be tempted to keep the no-dash gun until after this recession is over, sell it at a profit, and shoot my others until then.

I'll just keep them all! The more I fondle this baby the more I like it. Other than dry grips needing a refinishing it looks great.

I bought my 66-nothin on 6-6-73. Paid $160 from Sargent-Sowell Inc., in Texas. Carried it as my duty gun on a small department till hired with KCPD.

Great gun, serial 2K55xxx. Only problem I had was when I was working K9, I was cleaning my dog's kennel, laid it down so I wouldn't get it scratched up or dirty. Next thing I knew, my dog (trained for sniffing guns and weeds and bad guys) dropped something at my feet......my purty 66! So had to sand down the grips to get rid of the teeth marks. Stocks were really beautiful. Never thought it would be a collector back then, so I polished the frame. Wish I hadn't done that.

Nice story. Looks good polished too. I'll leave mine as it is, but put more rounds through it.

Thanks guys!

SS rear sights!

SS constructed rear sights. I've never seen them before.

That would have caught my eye too! *chuckle* Good snag!!

Do-da

That is a very nice 66.
I like S/S S&W revolvers.
I just recently bought a 66-2 with a 2.5" barrel.
It was one that has been on my "want list" for a while.
I've owned many M19's with 4in & 6in barrels
( blue and nickel) but I have always wanted a 66 with
2.5" barrel.
The 19's and 66's are my favorite S&W guns of all time.
I like 357 mag revolvers.
