Of all the pistols available she could have chosen for the range time she picked a S&W 10-5. I pointed out it was not a good CCW choice and her reply was "No, but it is a good range pistol, I can sort out carry pistols and holsters on my own time." I didn't even try to argue, she gets her stubbornness from her ma and grandma. I think her mom went through 3-4 combinations before she settled on a LCR 357. I have no idea how many different pistol/holster configurations I've used over the years.

Unless you live in an area where a CCW is gun specific she has a perfectly valid notion.
In Ohio the only requirement is a specific amount of range time, 2 hours I think. If the instructor had not specified they will be spending a good amount of time dry firing as part of the pre-range session a 22 would have met the requirements. Next Saturday we will load up some 148 gn DEWC ammo and spend some range time ourselves in preparation.

I've got a 29 year old Taurus 85 in stainless. Copy of a S&W model 60, but with shrouded ejector. Been a very good gun. Myself, wife, son, daughter and a couple of friends have used it to qualify for their CWP's. Loaded with mild wadcutters it's perfect for the job. Smart girl.

Sounds like she's got that covered, so she's doing well enough so far.
Besides, if she'd rather focus on training for the clsss for now with a firearm that's easy to shoot, you really can't fault her for that. Focusing on finding the perfect carry gun before she can even carry one would be putting the cart before the horse.

If she plans to carry a revolver, that's a fine choice. If she's already competent with a M10, she can focus on the instruction during the limited course time.

She sounds pretty smart to me. I shot my class with a M19-4 because it is what I shoot best. I carry a M469 because it hides a little easier and has twice as many bullets. Good luck to her. She will probably make the right decision about her carry gun, too.

This particular revolver she can have if she wants. I have a 10-6 that I'm fond of but this 10-5 has no real attachment. Her first revolver was S&W 31-1, for which she also helped reload. She will probably lay at least temporary claim to my S&W 36. At least until she sorts things out for herself.

My daughter has been deciding what she wants to carry and has borrowed my LCP II for a week.. or two. I don't think I'm getting it back.
When I took my CCL test many moons ago, I used a 1911-22. Your daughter has the right idea.
