No matter how little you pay for it, in the end you're stuck with a Bodyguard.

Well there is a rub in Texas law. Not that you are likely to be prosecuted for it but you can be charged with tax evasion if you do not pay the USE tax on good bought out of state it you did not pay that states sales tax at the point of sale. Enforcement is based on the honor system.
No Gun shops around here do $10 transfers any more. $25 it the cheapest and he drags his feet to punish you for not buying from him. It may take you a week to get it after it is delivered to his shop.
Now minor nit pick, I did not say the good deal of the day.
Additionally, there is a subset of gun buyers who do not buy sight unseen or do not like paying/giving their financial information over the phone or internet. For them, and I know several from my days working the local gun shop, it is as good as they can get here abouts.
And swsig's comment is why I didn't.

Bought mine; Sold mine at my LGS. I loved mine until it started having Light Strikes!
If U buy a gun from Academy they will charge U $10. before U can buy the gun and if the sales person at Academy likes U they can give a 5% discount on purchase!
My FFL charges $35. for transfer but some do $25. but to far away.
I bought my Shield for $299. no CC fees, no Ship and no tax for $299. +35. =$324. about 2 months ago!
I do agree that some don't like to order sight unseen which actually I don't either have had issues in past with damaged guns finish/scrapes etc.. but 1 X ordered a rifle and was the a pistol version of gun!
Sometimes U can save a fortune on line, been wanting a M9A3 for a long time, never saw 1 locally and all the big chains would get 1 or 2 and they are gone ASAP.
Cabellas last week did take orders at $1049. on line add tax $149. + BC fee $10. and I am looking at $1208. OTD
Same day saw ad online place had 2 no CC fee and $15. ship. for $899. so I got 1 $914. shipped and paid FFL $35. so OTD I paid $949. compared tp $1208 = a Saving of $258. for me !
Now that was a "Deal"!
