Dean Martin

I wish Dean Martin and John Wayne had made more movies together. I never miss Rio Bravo or The Sons on Kate Elder when I see them listed. Wasn't Dino in The War Wagon, or am I thinking of someone else? They don't make 'em like that anymore. Movies or men.

I don't think Dino was in that one. John Wayne and Kirk Douglas were the big names IIRC.

I don't know how many of you remember a movie Dean was in called Texas Across The River but there was a scene of a drunken Indian riding his horse into a tree branch and getting knocked off. I suspect that early "Political Correctness" caused it's removal because while I saw it in the original release of the movie it is absent from all subsequent releases.

You can get it as a MoD dvd. I did when WB first released it--in its full unpc glory too. :-))

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't already edited the pejoratives out of some of the scenes from Blazing Saddles.

From reading the above posts I just figured out maybe I was gypted and saw a Dean Martin impersonator.
When in Las Vegas about 1977-78 my wife wanted to attend a dinner show starring Mr Martin. As I recall the tickets were pretty pricey. Instead of tables,it was like a movie theatre with nothing memorable except a tray on our lap for "dinner". For the next hour or so he wandered about the stage smoking and carrying a highball glass. He never sang over a line from any song, only told a few off color jokes and appeared intoxicated. His attitude was - if you were stupid enough to pay lots of money to see me you deserve what you get.
When it was over I felt as if I had just had a colonoscopy.
Incidentally, prior to that I liked hisTV show.

I think the name was Cannonball Run the year was 1981.

I think yer totally correct. And I still need to buy the dvds. i MIGHT have the 1st one by now? not sure as I used to buy tons of dvds when I coould afford to.
