Defend yourselves with Ballpoint Pens!

Ball point pin? I don't think so, unless it is made by someone named Randall in Orlando, Florida.

Personally I'd use a pencil.
Then the miscreant would get scared he'd die of lead poisoning after he got stuck.

With a bullet he still might die of lead poisoning. There was a stray dog that killed about 25 of my chickens that died of lead poisoning.

Well lets get technical here. There is no lead in a pencil. It's graphite.:D Kinda like clip and mag ya know.;)

The lead thing came from some really old pencils that had lead in the paint on the outside, Heck maybe all the ones from China still have lead.

Levity aside, a tactical pen is a good defense and safety alternative - and yes, with knowledge and skill it can be very effective. They enjoy a serious and expanding market. Just google "tactical pen" to see what I mean.

I wonder how this guy'd feel about Modesty Blaise and her purse handle that snapped off to become a yawara stick.

Come to that, some use tough flashlights that way. I have an Inova that'd work. Most probably rely on Surefire.

But Modesty shot people when feasible, if they needed killing. Good books, by Peter O'Donnell, if a bit hard to locate in the USA.

Which ink refill does the S&W pen line use? What is the average cost of their pens? I have to go to an office supply now to find Cross and Parker refills. Used to be, the grocer and the drug store or Target had them... In fact, I've had to use a Swiss refill for Parkers, as genuine Parkers were out of stock at Office Depot. I have a couple of pens from the Dallas zoo that take Paper Mate refills, but they're cheap plastic. Not very good for defense. The T-Ball Jotters come with either stainless steel or plastic barrels. I have both, but usually carry a metal pen. My fountain pens are less well suited for sticking someone, but would put out an eye.

Zebra F-301 Stainless Steel Body ...you can carry it where you might not be able to have anything 'pointed'...its just an ink pen after all. $2.50

I wondered why when I tried to buy a pack of pens for work the other day I was asked to sign a form and pay 2 dollars for a background check.

One of those probley saved my butt 50 years ago. I had a very rough best friend. Harold would rather fight than eat. I had been working out on the west coast and went back to wisconsin between jobs and hadnt seen him in awhile. He conned me into going to a wild bar in a rival town. One of those teen age bars for 18 years old up to 21 or so. When we went in I noticed we were getting stares and didnt understand why. Then my idiot buddy stood up and "fingered" the entire crowd! I think something like 30 wild teenage punks followed us out as harold was mouthing all and challanging all to fight!
My 56 chev was parked directly in front and I grabbed a six or 8 cell flashlight I had back then, held it like I was at the plate with my back to the car door. I cant remember how we got out alive without a major fight but no one took harry up on his challange. We got on the road and I said harold, you idiot, what did you do that for? He laughed and said, "aw, about 4 of them jumped me when I was alone here the last time so I thought I would take you! Harold was I belive the toughest I ever knew. When he was in his mid 50s he was a college wrestling coach. The heavy weight college champ nation wide visited his school. Harolds boys goaded him into wresteling the champ in a demo match. Harold pinned him!

Another vote here for a pencil. A good sharpened pencil will slide in much easier than a ball point. Then you snap it off. As an aside, when in court on criminal day, I NEVER allow a pencil on counsel table.

I believe the proper method for using a pen in a defensive situation is to drop it on the floor, when the bad guy goes to pick it up for you (1) give him a knee strike to the chin or nose and (2) a palm strike to the temple.

Lastly, steal HIS gun and run away.

The pen is mightier than the sword------Please spare me. I will write you a check?

What's sad is that I'm actually considering buying one of these "tactical pens" anybody know of their legality in Great Britain? I'm allowed no more than a Swiss Army knife as far as blades go(I'm traveling this summer)
