Any modern, premium hollow point load will serve your needs. Winchester PDX1, Winchester Ranger, Speer Gold Dot, Federal Hydra-shok, Hornady Critical Defense, the list goes on.

Agreed. I use Winchester Supreme Elite 180gr Hollow Points in my Sigma .40.

Placement: The round that works best is the one that you can place within an inch or two of where you want to hit. That alone accounts for about 95% of bullet effectiveness.

Whether it's FMJ, hollow point, wadcutter, or round nose figures into that last 5%.

Hi, and welcome! Try several of the above mentioned rounds that expand (might as well have that advantage), and first make sure they function in your gun 100%, no exceptions allowed. Then see which one works best for you - accuracy, recoil, flash, etc. Practice with FMJs and occasionally use the serious stuff to remind yourself how it shoots. Let us know what you find out.

Assuming they are reliable in your gun, the Speer Short Barrel Gold Dot and Cor Bon DPX loadings would be excellent choices, both are made specifically for short barreled guns.

For more reliable expansion, tend toward lighter bullet, so long as they are reliable and shoot to POA. More velocity helps expansion. The .45 ACP is slow and needs all the help it can get. Lighter bullets generally shoot faster than heavy when loaded hot. I second tpd223's recomendations.

Also, before you start testing expensive carry ammo, make sure the gun is broken in and clean.

Thank you all I will try them all and get back with you all thanks again
