Degrease for Painting

I am planning to paint my 15-22, and was curious if engine degreaser would be too harse to use.

I duracoated a 10-22, and used denatured alcohol. Came out perfect, you just have to be very thorough. Welcome to the forum btw!

It will most likely attack and dissolve the polymer parts. Plain old denatured alcohol is all you need.

Please don't get degreaser near the 15-22. while the barrel won't particularly mind, the effect on the polymer (I.E. the rest of the gun) will not make you happy (but will tickle Mayor Bloomberg all to bits!).

I hear that if you use degreaser..make sure it's chlorine free.. otherwise your polymer might end up as mush.

Lol. Thats what happen with the first go around painting this rifle haha, oh man that was bad.
