Del Monte canned spinach shortage

Grew up with 4 siblings and Del Monte canned spinach was a staple at our table. Wife likes it as well so we have been eating it for our 40+ years of marriage.

Used to hunt doves in Crystal City South Texas, where Del Monte had a canning plant with a random statue of Popeye in town.

Lately it has been harder to find than toilet paper at local grocery stores.

Is it a "hunker down" vegetable or is there a "secret" anti virus component to it of which I am not aware?

Rest assured, I'm not driving the demand for this.

I would have to think frozen or fresh would be so much better, why canned?

Here's why.:D[ame="https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IMdI_fozMYg"]https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IMdI_fozMYg[/ame]

I don't mind the taste of Spinach, but the "slider" aspects are too much to tolerate. The Green Giant with butter sauce on it tastes great, but I can't get it down.

Anytime I see or hear "Cling Peaches", I think about that All In The Family episode. Weird name, and I hate peaches way more than I hate Spinach.

I'll trade a can of Del Monte spinach for a box of CCI SV .22 long rifle.

Ya know I was in my 60's before I realized why peaches were called "cling" and "freestone". Sometimes I ain't too swift on the uptake
As far as spinach-I rather it fresh and cooked down in a little olive oil and garlic. BUt drain a can of it and mix with scrambled eggs and a little cheese and you gots some good eatin'!

My 2¢ worth.

It's in terrible times like these, that unscrupulous groceries, and other vendors, rid their shelves of unpopular goods, at highly increased prices. It's an easy matter to keep the more popular stock off the shelves, raise the prices on the stock that isn't selling, making their customers believe that there is no other stock available, until the unpopular stock is sold. Sadly, it's my opinion that in times like these, is when unscrupulous venders make large fortunes, at the expense of their gullible customers.
