Beautiful examples of high craftsmanship in blue steel and walnut.

I also like beech when it's done by the likes of CZ (rifles) and Weihrauch (air rifles).
Beech can be absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't HAVE to be plain and boring as is so often seen.

But, there's something truly special about a nice chunk of walnut.

Just my type of thread! The beauties pictured here cannot be beat. Real character. The polymer stocks and flat matte finishes of today will never be as enjoyable to cherish down the road.

OP back again.
I Want the forum to know that almost all of the many guns I posted here were, at the time, "just guns" made from walnut and steel. To me that makes them even more beautiful.

For example, the following is on a Savage 99G from 1927:

This is on Ithaca's lowest grade NID from 1927:

And this is on Winchester's lowest grade Model 21 from the early 1930's

Blue steel and walnut gets in one's blood and then he finds himself "afflicted" for ever more.

The only thing that accents blue steel and walnut in an appropriate manner is vintage leather.

Oh, I have just the one!

An M1 Tanker Garand by Charlie Maloney in 308, and a Model 1917 by Miltech in the original 30'06

What the hell, a Belgium shotgun from the late 1800's I inherited with 24K gold inlay. It has a lot more inlay, but this is the limit without opening another panel.
