Did I really need another 3" K frame?

I just bought a pretty decent 13-3 with a three inch barrel at the Birmingham gun show for $300.00. It had a Hogue rubber monogrip on it, and some surface rust underneath it, which I mostly got taken care of by an application of Mother's metal polish. Thing is, I've already GOT a nice three inch 13-3 at home, only the one I just bought was blued, and the one I had is nickel. I tried to justify this purchase, and finally decided I just wanted the thing, and bought it. This can really become a sickness; I need professional help.......

Just posted pics with a crappy cell phone camera; on the left side under the trademark, you can see what's left of the surface rust from the rubber grips. Mother's really did a pretty good job; I'd love to see more pics on this thread of other guns like these.

Remember all the money that you waste on professional help means there is less for 3" K frames. Great deal on a great gun. I have had a bunch of the 3" K's and the 13 is my favorite. Can't really remember when I have not had one or more around the house. Although personal preference is to the dash 2 or below your new treasure is a good one.

Understand - just acquired a 3" M65 on GB and actually paid just a little more than I wanted to for it.
My motivation was the level of regret I had over selling a 3" M66 a few years back for the sum of $375. I was afflicted with 1911-itis at the time and was in 'fund raising mode'.
Really like the 3" M65 and would have jumped on a similar M13 if I had been able to locate one.

Three inch barreled J-frames are just wrong. Throws off the whole balance of the gun. Three inch barrels are only suitable for K-frames. Sell that gun immediately, before you become addicted.


Edit...Oops, sorry. Wasn't paying proper, or apparently any, attention to what I was reading. Three inch K-frame Smiths are my favorite revolvers.

Sure you need more 3" K frames!

I was looking for a good stainless revolver to carry in the mountains here in Colorado. Was in a pawn shop in Colorado Springs with my brother and saw a 3" Model 65 laying in the case. I said to myself "Now that - is a badass gun."

The 65 led to a Buds 3" model 10 and then a 3" model 13. Now I want a 3" 64 and 547. Also looking at 3" J frames.....

Dont fight the sickness, just collect them!

I had wanted a 3.0 inch barrel Model 13 or Model 65 for many years when I came across a 3.0 inch barrel Model 64-3 at a decent price a few years ago. I later was able to acquire a Model 13-3, and then a Model 65-3, each with the 3.0 inch barrel. Congratulations on a good deal and a fine acquisition.
