Did the gun boxes get thrown out?

Over the years I've bought a number of both new and used S&Ws with the box. I had about 12-15 of them neatly stacked in the bottom of a storage cabinet in my garage.
Then a couple of years ago we had some serious rain for about a week. It cause a rare hundred year flood in these parts. The drainage ditch in my back yard overflowed and I ended up with about six inches of water in my garage.
Did ya catch the part about the boxes being in the bottom of that cabinet.
Excrement eventuates.

I have kept every box of every gun I purchased. I purchased a model 29 4 in. barrel that came with a wooden box, the blue insert was trash. I am using the box to put papers in. if some wants it PM me.

I have saved the box for any firearm I have ever bought that came with one. If I change parts (the mainspring housings on my 1911s, for example, or stocks on my revolvers) I store the original parts in the original box...someday my sons will look to the heavens and thank me for that!

I've still got my SW Boxes for my Model 66 and 39-2, both bought new. My other Smiths were all bought used and sans the boxes.
