Difficulty removing spent brass out of the Model 627

I recently purchased a Smith & Wesson Model 627, 8 shot revolver and I don't use the moon clips. I usually shoot reduced lead bullet reloads and never maximum loads.

Upon firing all 8 shots, all but three shells are difficult to remove. I have noticed that after tapping out with a squib rod the three stuck shells, I've noticed that the bottom of this shells shows a bit of abrasion mark. The stuck cases occur on the same three chambers on the revolver and the rest of the 5 works fine.

The unfired rounds loads and unloads just fine with no rubbing. I've also fired the same rounds on my other 357's with no problems.

Short of sending it back to Smith & Wesson----any suggestions to remedy this?
Thanks in advance.

you might could take some flitz and polish the chambers that are rough but but any more than that and i would take it to a professional.

Sometimes you can get a lead build up enough to hamper extraction. I would give it a good cleaning, a really torough cleaning. You don't say if you are shooting .38s or .357 brass. .38's will leave a lead ring at the end of the case, making .357 brass sometimes unable to chamber, and if chambered, hamper extraction.

I would clean thoroughly, make absolutely sure that you get all lead out of the chambers. Then run some .357 mag factory jacketed ammo through the gun. If you have to drive these out of the same three chambers, then call the factory and bet a shipping label and ship it back.

had this happened with a 686-6 once. i just took a .45 brass bore brush on the end of a cleaning rod whith hoppe's #9 bore cleaner. put it into a power drill and spun the **** outta each chamber problem solved. this method is now part of my regular cleanning on all my revolvers.

Brownells' sells a 38/357 chamber brush that's slightly larger and longer that works well at getting the cylinder good and clean. Just don't go putting it down the barrel, it's a b**ch to get out of there!
