A prick then, a prick now. JMHO.

I got it!!!! My Dirty Harry holster arrived yesterday. First impressions....

It came in a ziplock bag. I unzipped it and the sweet smell of genuine leather wafted out. I've had some holsters that smelled more like chemicals than leather. But this one smelled pure leather. I next gave a close examination of the stitching. All were straight and even and well done. Nothing was misaligned. Definitely quality work. Next was the leather lacing. The last Dirty Harry holster I had the laces came from the factory all lumpy and with huge knots in them. But the one from Blocker Holsters had very low profile lacing and knots. So wear under a coat, jacket or vest should be quite comfortable. And finally, I tried her on. WOW!!! I knew immediately this holster would NOT need any major adjustments. Actually, I don't think i will be adjusting it at all. It fits my body perfectly. And that's saying a lot, since I sure don't have a Clint Eastwood build

So I have to say that so far I am 100% happy with my purchase. I will post some pics ASAP.

You probably did better by getting one from Blocker because about 1981 I got a Dirty Harry from Lawman Leather and it took several months to get here It was very nice but in the 8 3/8 length it was to long I sold it and bought 2 ******* shoulder holster big game rigs in 6" and 8 3/8" and never looked back, The DH rig was a very well made and quality rig.

Glad to hear you got your holster Deputy. It was two years ago when you started this thread. Just want to say thanks for getting the good folks at Ted Blocker to make these holsters. It sure fills a niche.

A sharp salute to you.

Hi I am a new member to the forum & have been looking over the posts about the Dirty Harry holster, they are from 2007 I guess by now you have to know that LAWMANS LEATHER.COM is back in business based out of Las vegas NV. and they are making the original holsters again, like I said your posts were from 2007, so if anyone wants an original holster visit their site thanks

I bought a S&W model 29 with an 83/8" bbl back in 1978 a few months later I saw the Dirty Harry original holster being advertised in a either a Guns& Ammo magazine I think it was the add showed the holster in either Black or the Red leather it was Made by Lawmans Leather advertised by Jerry Ardolino If I remember right it was about $75 or $90 bucks and I sent away for it at the address of Lawmans Leather in KATHY Texas Like I said that was back in 1978 the holster looks as new now as the day that I bought it, I keep it well by using Kiwi netural shoe wax on it & it still serves me well today after all of these years,I use it when out Deer hunting etc. best money that I ever spent for a holster of that quality.

by the way I bought the red holster because that's what Harry wore.

REDTAIL: Since you are fairly new to this thread, you missed our past exchanges with Mr. Ardolino. It looks like the admins have deleted all his posts. And I think them for doing so. For about 4 pages in this thread we were subjected to the abusive and wiseacre attitude of Mr. Ardolino. After he mistreated the female rep (Shelley, a really nice lady) from Blocker Holsters, I don't think ANYONE would buy anything from him or his "company". I'm quite happy with my Blocker holster and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I'm a retired police captain, with over 30 years of experience. I bought my first Dirty Harry holster for my S & W Model 29 44 Mag. 6 1/2 inch, over thirty years ago, and still have that same holster. Its still in great shape. The craftsmanship has always been superb, and is indeed, the best holster that I have ever purchased.

We in the law enforcement community, should be proud of the work, and professionalism of Lawman Leather. They are by far, the greatest, and I as a former law enforcement officer salute them for the fine work that they have dedicated to us, after all these decades.

Thank you for all that you have done, and will do for us in the future. Your Dirty Harry holster is the best and finest holster in the world, not only said by me, but a host of other law enforcment police and military professionals throughout the world also.

Best always,

With all due respect, you do not say whether you have ever worn the holster, how often and under what circumstances. As a retired officer, I doubt you carried the Model 29 in that holster as a duty or off duty gun on a daily basis.

In addition, the quality of a holster made almost 30 years ago does not speak to the quality of the current product, or the speed of delivery or the customer service/customer satisfaction of this current operation.

Not to mention the fact that the holster made by Lawman is merely a copy of the original J.M. Bucheimer holster.

Thus, I would say that we should wait and see what experiences people report from this new company (if anyone here buys from them after the troubling posts that have now been deleted).

UPDATE: As I said in another post in a different thread, I "put my money where my mouth is." I had a most enjoyable talk with Mr. Ardolino on the phone (he returned my call in his "off hours" and we chatted for over 30 minutes). He personally took my order, explained the price and the fact that my card would be charged at that time. He said I would receive my holster by December 7, which was about a 3 month or so wait.

Today, December 7, I received a priority USPS box from Lawman with my holster for the 6 1/2 inch Model 29. The holster smells great, is excellent quality and, in my opinion, just a better product than another maker mentioned here that was also offering a reproduction of the holster.

The neatest thing is that when I spoke to Mr. Ardolino, I explained my height and weight and expressed my concern about comfort (5'11" 207, and wear size 48 regular jacket). He said they had someone there about my size and would fit it to him. Now, I do not know if they in fact did that, but the holster required absolutely NO adjustment. I put it on and it fit perfectly. I am happy to report that Mr. Ardolino delivered exactly as promised, and I feel it is my duty to report such. I would NOT hesitate to order from Lawman again, and am sorry that some of you had reported negative experiences here. I had a positive experience, and would happily order from this company again.

My 6.5" 29-2 came from a retired LEO, his last 20 years served as a desk Sgt. and the 29 was his duty weapon! I asked him "why would you want to wear that all the time if you were inside the station?" his answer was classic, he replied "Because NOBODY is going to steal MY donuts!"
