Dirty Harry Shoulder Holster

Not really "still available". More "available again". That website just went up a short time ago. We all were referred to it by Mr. Ardolino right after HE found out that Blocker Holsters were making a repro holster for a few of us on a limited production run.
Also note this from his website:
"Because we make your holster for YOU, your credit card will be charged on date the order is received".

Yet..."Delivery time is currently running 8—12 weeks"

So your credit card will be dinged and you will have paid for your holster 2-3 MONTHS before you receive it. Blocker doesn't ding you credit card until the holster actually goes into production.

Deputy, Does Blocker still make the holster? What was he charging?

The holster was a special run. I don't know for sure if they are still making it. They would probably need more than one order to make any more. Look on page 3 of this thread. You will see a post by "Brassy Shell". Shelley is the contact person at Blocker Holsters. Her e-mail is listed when you click on her name and view her public profite. I suggest you e-mail her for more details on price and production.

I have been following this thread for a while...since I ordered a Dirty Harry holster from Lawman Leather in January. It came yesterday and I must say, it is beautiful. This is my first attempt at posting photos also, please note, this is a left handed holster - not reversed photos! The holster is well made with amazing leather and is fully lined. I only had one chance to try it on and I still need to get the straps adjusted properly. Also, I had no one to photograph me wearing it, so no photos of that. So, here goes...

I have two more on order, a left handed model for a 4" 29-2 and a right handed model for the 6 1/2" 29-2. I am very impressed with the first one. I may also get one for a 4" model 15. If you don't mind the wait, I think it was worth waiting for.

Here are two photos of the straps:

This is the strap the connects the holster across the shoulders to the support straps. IMO, this is the only "weak" area and the instructions suggest that once you get the unit adjusted to your liking to have a shoe shop sew it together instead of using the ties. Probably a good idea because those ties may show through clothing or be uncomfortable. Concealability is not a real issue as this is intended as a hunting rig anyway. Sewing the harness does not void the lifetime warranty.

This is the off side belt attachment point with two adjustable buckles.

This is a big rig. I am looking forward to getting one for a 4" K frame. Once adjusted and broken in it should make for a comfortable and useful piece for off duty carry of a 15 or 19.

Hope these photos help.

It's a shame the manufacturer came in here and acted like such an a-hole to everyone. If he would have come in here and acted like a gentleman and presented his product with some modicum of dignity, he probably would have increased his sales considerably. Posting tons of negative stuff about the competition just turns everyone off. Why not just let the PRODUCT speak for itself?

Viceunit: That holster looks pretty nice!!!

Deputy - thanks for starting this topic, it reminded me that I always wanted one of these holsters and led me to find the "new" Lawman Leather company. I have one of the original sales brochures from around 1977 (photo) and my new holster looks just like those early models.

I never met Jerry Ardolino, but I did speak with him by phone during the construction of my holster. He was very accomodating and kept me updated with occasional calls including a call that the holster shipped. He might be a "salty" character, but I truly believe he is committed to producing the highest quality product possible. I am not disappointed and am anxious to receive the others I have ordered.

I guess I have to run out and pick me up a 6 1/2" M29 !!

Today I received another Dirty Harry shoulder holster from Lawman Leather that I ordered for my son. He is right handed, so I snapped some photos to show what a right handed model looks like, for those of you who were not lucky enough to be born a lefty! This thing is perfect, the gun fits superbly and it smells like a case of new baseball gloves!

This set up looks exactly like the model in the 1977 vintage sales brochure that I posted up earlier.

This was worth waiting for and a good value compared to what else is available, like a Bianchi X-15. Not bad - I have one, but does not compare to these.

I am a probation officer in Louisiana and just received a Dirty Harry shoulder holster from Lawman Leather. It is magnificent! The previous statement that is smells like baseball gloves is very accurate. I also found Jerry to be very helpful and informative. I had previously purchased a similar item from Ted Blocker Holsters. Not to knock them, but there is no comparison. The Lawman is made much like if not exactly like the original, is lined, has stitching around the cutout, etc., etc. The Blocker is made from thinner, cheaper appearing leather, which did not even have that new leather smell when I got it. Of course, I realize that Blocker is not selling a "Dirty Harry" shoulder holster. I am simply saying that between the two, Lawman is the only choice, and it was less expensive as well. I do not have pictures right now, but mine looks just like the right handed version picture just posted that said it smelled like baseball gloves. Thanks for letting me post my two cents worth.

I met a guy last week here in S. Florida that was working with his father at Dade Screw Machine products during the filming of Dirty Harry. The studio sent them the model 29 and they made speed loaders and the loader carry cases. If you watch the movie close you can make out the difference in Dade Screw and the other loaders.

I have 10-12 of these loaders now

Too bad Jerry came on this forum with a chip on his shoulder and a crappy attitude. He would have made more sales than he did. However,
I have the Blocker holster and am 100% happy with it and to me IT is the "only choice". Hey Jerry...you can stop sending your buddies over here to advertise for you just because you were banned.

Dep: I am not advertising for Lawman Leather or anyone else. I stumbled across this thread that you started when I first joined the forum in January of this year. Like many posts, it was very informative and entertaining and it reminded me that I had that old Lawman Leather brochure somewhere. I found it and the subsequent replies to your original post generated interest in me to find the new Lawman Leather company. After I placed my order I began to wonder if I made a mistake because of some of the things I read and the exchanges between Ardolino and others. So, I waited patiently while the topic seemed to die. Many posters, however, were curious about the Lawman Leather holster - if they were for real. As a service to those people I posted the photos when I received my holsters. If I was an advertising agent for anyone, I should be fired! That photography is barely amateur quality! Ardolino did not send me over here to promote his products, I only put them up so others can look at what I bought, just like if I bought a new gun. If anyone was thinking about buying one, they can see that they are for real and make their own decision. I am not here trying to patch up any mistakes Ardolino made. I am just a member providing information that others may benefit from. Thanks, Deputy, for starting this topic, it has been entertaining.

viceunit: Not talking about you. Talking about someone who's first and ONLY post is a ringing endorsement of Mr. Ardolino and a condemnation of the Blocker holster. My warning lights went off immediately.

Sorry Dep, you could see how I may have gotten that impression.

For the information of anyone who is interested and has an open mind. I am not one of Jerry's buddies. I have only talked to him on the phone a couple of times as a customer. I joined this thread, because I saw what was going on on this issue and thought that an objective viewpoint from someone neutral MIGHT be appreciated. If someone else out there has purchased this style rig from both Blocker and Lawman, please offer your comments. It seems to me that anyone who has an opposing viewpoint is condemned. I am not here to judge who was ugly to who or why. For those in the remedial class... I have purchased both holsters and the Lawman is clearly the better item. If you don't like Mr. Ardolino, fine, but give the product a fair chance. I tried both and simply like the Lawman better. If someone can't deal with a fair assessment of a product they purchased, then perhaps they are the ones with the problem.
