I recently became the new owner of a model 19-3 2k20xxx. So far I have put 100 rounds of 38 special through it and loved every squeeze of the trigger! The disappointing aspect of this gun is that I hate shooting my other pistols now! My other pistols are Springfield 1911, ruger p94 dc, and desert eagle 50. I have always purchased guns based on how they looked. However after shooting my model 19 I am now more picky. The balance of this pistol feels great in my hand. The trigger pull is superior. I wish that I would have bought this gun first but these guns are so hard to find. I want to thank smith and wesson for my new addiction.

Wait till you shoot an N frame s&w revolver too. The bigger magnum frames are sweet too. There is something about the feel of the s&w revolvers they seem so well balanced. Congrats.

Now you have joined the rest of us "s&w wheel gun" owners.
 
Oh no....another m19 addict on the loose!!! Kinda spoils you doesn't it... For God's sake....Do NOT ever fire a M27/28 or an old original K-38!!

The model 19 is a very beautiful, well designed and well balanced K frame gun. Probably as nice as any gun with just the right size barrel in relation to the frame. The 4" model 29 is just an overgrown version. While I prefer the 27s, I think the 19 is better balanced. Its a bit light for a steady diet of full magnums for my ability to handle recoil. It didn't seem that bad 45 years ago.
 
I been shooting ruger redhawks in 44mag ever since they were offered. Lately I found my 5 1/2" barrel heavy on the recoil with magnum loads.
When I shot my s&w m58 in 41mag with the 4" barrel I expected the recoil to even worse. But the total package to the weight to power ratio of the larger n frame is spot on. The recoil I expected was way less than what it actually is.

Night Owl, we're getting older brother, the more recoil the better 40 years ago right?
 
As someone old enough to remember the transition from wood and steel to plastic and sheet metal, I have to say that classic revolvers (and pistols) still feel like "real guns" to me. I've carried a Glock for years, but may go retro one of these days.

I recently just acquired a 4" Model 19-3 myself, after over a year of looking for one.
It almost might become my favorite revolver.

I've had a model 19-3 since new in the early 70's and I love it like you do yours. Welcome to the club.
If you like shooting .38 special, you should be aware that there are some nice model 10s and 15s out there that have great trigger pulls and feel just as well balanced as a model 19 with a 4" barrel.
 
I don't share your particular pain (yet) but get used to it. I've got 17 stepchildren in the closet that can't get along with each other and cause me grief.

Ah M-19s Great feeling guns in the hand.

I recently bought 2 at a yard sale here in Wy. Both are 4 inch one nickle and the other blue. Both well used but still good and tight. I may actually send the nickle back for a refinish if they will do it. It has a spot of wear from the holster. The blue one I will polish slightly and rust blue myself. The blue one my wife glommed onto and it resides in her truck. It was my truck ..but she grabbed it too. The Blue one had Target Trigger and Hammer when i got it. Both cop guns I think. Both under 200 bucks. Got an old 4 screw M-28 at the same yard sale. missing the rear sight but I had one of them laying around in my parts box. But I got it CHEAP at 150. Great guns. The 19s have good triggers. The ol 28 is a great trigger..in my opinion
