I've been holding out for a nice Navy victory.

I've had a couple victories, but the condition never really satisfied me. I tend to sell things in preparation for an upgrade.

So true. The thing is I have been holding out for the right .41 mag S&W. I had a model 57 that wasn't good enough and sold it in preparation for an early one with cokes. I have yet to find one in any sort of condition when I have money to buy it.

For the record I have 2 .41 Magnum Redhawks and a Dan Wesson. It's one of my favorite rounds to shoot.

My only stainless gun is my carry gun, the stainless S&Ws all came later then I am interested in, in terms of the era they were made in (not that they can't be great guns, but I won't even consider getting to them until I have exhausted depression era hand ejectors and Model 3s, which will be never on my budget). The only reason I own a nickel gun at all is because it's a 2" Bicycle gun that came in it's own purse. If any gun deserves a nickel finish that's the one.

Otherwise nickel on the guns I like usually annoys me because I like my guns to have a little wear to them, and nickel with a little wear is not very attractive to me, generally speaking.

The only possible problem I can think of is if you want to take them all out for a day at the range. You would need to start early, and pack a lunch and maybe dinner. Cleanup would take some time as well.

I do actually have a legitimate question for you guys to go along with that wheel o' smith & wesson up there.

I've been a bit compulsive about buying these, and grips, and I have been trying to focus. I've come to a conclusion that the guns that make me the very happiest are the old re-worked depression era guns, and more specifically anything King did.

I've also been buying things like stocks:

There's also stuff like sight adjustment tools, holsters, and what not.

What I have been pondering is going through that collection, and the stocks, and offering up things that I don't actually want to sell, but that I would trade for something I liked better.

Is that something anyone on the forum here does?

Truth is I have some guns I really like, but not as much as many of the guns you guys have. I just evaluate what I have and realize that I would be happy to trade them for some of the things I consider to be truly special.

Truth is I have some guns I really like, but not as much as many of the guns you guys have. I just evaluate what I have and realize that I would be happy to trade them for some of the things I consider to be truly special.

It takes a special kind of fortitude to actually get rid of guns and trade up. A lot of us don't have that kind of strength of will, especially to send a gun on before its replacement is in hand. But more power to you if you can persevere - others may benefit by receiving your cast-offs!

Good point, the problem is that I'm actually fairly happy with the top breaks that I do have, and the ones I would like to buy are mostly Model 3s (well, that and I need a perfected, but I would like a blued one).

As far as boxes go, I've actually sold all of my boxed guns.

I really like guns that someone shot and loved, a box is a neat bonus but not really necessary at all for me. I've been annoyed at my guns that were as new in the box, I didn't feel like I could take them out and shoot them.

I'll probably eventually get over that, but I think I have a lot of King modified guns to buy over many years before I move onto boxed guns.

I'm not yet, I've been sort of figuring that I need a really big pile before I get married because after that new ones will be much fewer and farther between.

Yup - you got yourself a problem - your halfway into the process of needing another safe! Start looking now, as it can take a while to find just the right one to house all of the future S&Ws that you will be purchasing in the near future... (think BIG)

I had that same problem. Luckily I recognized it quick enough to get the safe in place before I outgrew the original safe.

That's not an issue, I have 2 safes already.

Although I will admit a big part of why I pulled all these out was to reorganize the revolver safe. It's a big safe, I can fit a couple hundred more in there. Do need to figure out some sort of extra shelving/boxing arrangement however.

The bigger problem is getting range time at all. I'm on the road for my job most of the time lately, so I don't really get to shoot them anywhere near as much as I would like to.
