See bolded.....for me that is always 99% of the decision-making process. I just bought a nice 625-6 from a gent here, and while the wood grips they came with are beautiful on the gun, I switched them out for the S&W rubber combat style grips that he kindly threw in for me. I understand the collector mentality, but all my guns are carried, trained with, and in a nutshell, shooters.If it feels good, do it! I would note that the OP didn't mention concealment. If those big honkers help you shoot better, then you are yards ahead. If you want to conceal, get a bigger jacket.
I'm sure to some that's sacrilege, but as Peak53 intimates above, it helps me shoot better.
