Do they have the shooter? YES!

Death is too good for that guy. He's young, I want him to live a long miserable life behind the wall.
I would usually agree with this, but I wish this mut was found with a hole in the cranium. Now we, and especially the family of the victim, have to endure the spectacle of what will follow.

Why? A 200 yard shot with a .30-06 hunting rifle isn't anything extraordinary, and from the looks of the angle and impact, he failed to aim lower since he was shooting from a higher position. He likely aimed center chest and made a neck hit from mis-aiming and not calculating wind (haven't looked to see if wind was left-to-right from the shooter's vantage yet).

This just underscores that for all the "Reee!" about AR's and such (which comparably aren't "high-powered" in .223, and not really in .300BO), old-school hunting rifles are just as capable on a single-shot basis and in hunting calibers, quite a bit more deadly. They're just not suited for multiple-target engagements as much.

If you were some sort of sleeper cell agent and wanted to stay under the radar, you'd be at the range with a hunting rifle and paper targets of deer, building your skills at range.

Not glorifying the shooter in the least here - just pointing out that despite the reporting, this isn't any huge, scary, special, CIA-only feat. It's a regular shot for many hunters... and a SHORT shot for folks hunting exotics in the mountains, where 400y isn't off the table.
I realize all that. I've shot countless deer and woodchucks at those distances. But did you see the gun? A kindergartner could do a better job mounting a scope.
The distance was 520' or 173 yds. Elevation and shot angle played almost no roll. If going center mass he missed by 10". My point was looking at gun it did not instill confidence in me that he'd be accurate. And I don't think he was.

I heard that the father talked to his pastor first and then turned his son in. I' wonder if he'll claim the $100K reward...

We locked a previous thread on the Kirk assassination because it went political. Don't do that here....
My understanding is that someone came forward and added $1M to the reward. The father should claim it and donate it to the 2 kids that lost their father.

Wager that a high percentage of folks who post here could have made a shot like that.

Means simply that security needs to be heavily upgraded at ALL political events in the future.
I think Kirk's paid security team failed him. There is video from the same vantage point they had of a guy walking on roof then laying down. I would think after the Butler PA incident security would be hyper aware of rooftops and windows.

You're assuming the rifle was fired in the condition found, not taking into consideration dropping it off a roof, banging it on things running, and dropping it in the woods.

Not great mounting, but if all he needed was the center crosshair, even if that was how it was mounted it would do.

So, I saw the supposed video of the guy running a jumping off the roof. Where was the rifle? Are there other videos of him with It? He supposedly hid it in his pants and was walking with a limp. When he was running, he didn't seem to have it with him. Then the rifle is found in the woods. The narrative is not making sense to me.

Yeah ok. Based on all your replies you are here simply to be contrarian. Argue for the sake of arguing.

Inscriptions on the bullet cases tell the story. Hate with a laugh.
The picture of the shell casing published by the Wall Street Journal on their social media feed was a farce. The image showed the butt-end of a shell casing with "TRN" stamped into it, which if they had bothered to check was the manufacturer's mark and not trans-gender propaganda. Also, it had "9x19" and "21" stamped as well, which tells me they can't tell the difference between a 30.06 rifle casing and that from a 9mm handgun. Embarrassing, if you ask me.

So far I've been unable to locate any actual images of the bullet casing and frankly I don't expect the FBI or local/state police to be publishing it any time soon, so I now consider anything to do with inscriptions on the casing to be Fake News until a reputable source with actual images comes forward. They already published a retraction, stating: "Our reporting may not accurately reflect the messages on the ammunition", but nobody every seems to mention that part of the story. Certainly the WSJ failed on this one.

The is a video out that showed Kirk was wearing a vest under his shirt and that the bullet struck the west, apparently deflecting upward into his neck. The impact on the vest is clear.

Standard viewing cautions apply.

Punk ratted out by his parents, contributions by roommate leading to Discord post and other texts, clearer surveillance pictures than originally shown. Transparency of modern society makes it hard to get away with anything.

Supposedly, someone was supposed to pick up the rifle and he was communicating them on discord. Is that not a conspiracy? Are/will there be additional arrests?

Was the Butler shooter also communicating on discord, too? Seems like something is happening in the discord chats.

He was turned in by his father, not a lot of work involved.
Easy to say for someone not in law enforcement. First of all, they found videos of the suspect which in turn enabled them to arrest the suspect. I would say law enforcement and the FBI did a tremendous job to get a totally unknown shooter in custody in less than 2 days!!! BTW, the shooter's father is in law enforcement. Do not know which branch yet.

Investigation has just started. I have full confidence in the current FBI to ferret out anyone else to be charged if they find reason.

What little I have to say can be said without crossing any lines. The reckless and continuous misuse of the word engraved on the ammo is the direct cause of this. An undisputable fact.

Agreed, too many words have had their meanings changed/weakened so they are applied incorrectly. They are used now for shock value and to shut down any reasonable/thoughtful debate.

Sort of the equivalent of a Veterinarian diagnosing every animal ailment as Rabies. Note that the end result is the same.

If only the Governor read this before he passed on what you call fake news in his press conference...the press conference that stated what the anti-fascist message said.
