Yes, they do. Pre
At the news conference ongoing, it was said to be a Mauser 98. I saw a poor quality picture of the rifle yesterday, and it appeared to be a sporterized Model 98. Earlier reports said it was a Mauser 19 Savanna. Looking at the picture, no way it could have been a Savanna. Caliber of the recovered rifle had been stated earlier as a .30-06, but no mention of the caliber was made in the news conference.Just saw pics of the gun used. Looking at suspect and gun it's a wonder he hit anything. I can't imagine what the suspects father is feeling. So many life's ruined by this act.
Looks to me like a 98 in a plastic stock with a crudely mounted scope. At the news conference ongoing, it was said to be a Mauser 98. He was turned in by his father, not a lot of work involved.Great job for all involved in the apprehension and the quick arrest. We are grateful.
I heard that the father talked to his pastor first and then turned his son in. I' wonder if he'll claim the $100K reward...He was turned in by his father, not a lot of work involved.
I'll wager he would have been apprehended pretty soon anyway, the heat was on…He was turned in by his father, not a lot of work involved.

I'm always curious why people want to know this. In Utah, he could have purchased it from an FFL or person-to-person, and I haven't seen anything that would flag him as a prohibited person.curious if the ATF ran a serial number search on the rifle...even of where/how he obtained it. yes I heard it was legally bought
But violence - especially assassinations - have been the "weakness" that have started quite a few wars.If you have to resort to violence in political discourse, your position is weak.

We locked a previous thread on the Kirk assassination because it went political. Don't do that here....
At risk of replies to this going political: We're teaching our young about rights without accompanying responsibilities. We're now seeing the results of that. What are we teaching our young?
one of the many points made by Charley Kirk.If you have to resort to violence in political discourse, your position is weak.
I'm quite sure some of the tracking info, photos, and videos may have had a wee bit to do with it.I'll wager he would have been apprehended pretty soon anyway, the heat was on…
