What if there are aliens watching us from 35 light years away....Would they try to emulate our ways and build giant space discos?
Imagination=fiction. If you stare into the dark long enough you can see anything.

You'd think the British and French would know the same thing.Anyone from any other Galaxy, or our own Galaxy and a different star/planet system, would know they were not irritating Royal neighbors.
If there is such a thing as plate tectonics, why don't we see the continents moving toward and away from each other? If there is such a thing as evolution, why dont we see apes turning into humans today?
I don't know, did the British emulate the way of the Iroquois and build giant drafty hogans? Did the Royal Navy emulate them and build giant birch bark canoes? What if there are aliens watching us from 35 light years away....Would they try to emulate our ways and build giant space discos?
I saw a bunch of UFOs once. I (of course) had been drinking with a buddy at the time. They were almost as bright as stars and flying in the most bizarre, unexplainable way over the highway. We could see these from a balcony of a building.
Got in his car (after drinking, not terribly bright) and went to investigate. Got up close and verified that they were bats, illuminated by the flood lights on a billboard by the highway. Apparently they were soaking up the heat from the lights and just flying around erratically, having a merry time of it.
I haven't ever had the cojones to re-tell that story before, because I feel so stupid.![]()

Tech may have slowed down but it hasn't stopped.
The Greeks believed in geometry too.In a nutshell the whole alien thing is based on a belief style called naturalism which started in Greek culture back in the midevil times. The centuries old naturalistic and humanistic belief system is basically where the alien and life beyond this world came from. It is because of this why I hold no credible belief in ET.
Try this one out. This isnt my idea but I remember my dad bringing it up many years ago. Okay. We see stars that emitted light many light years after that light was emitted. Suppose we had a vehicle or means of darting in space and out raceing the "light" or events on our own planet?
Would we be able to "dock" back in time and watch the civil war, maybe speed ahead farther and watch the crucifiction?
Think of the money we could make on horse races etc!
Think judgement day might be something like that to where we could dial in to actualy see crimes and sins as they happen? There would be no lieing out of it either!
Agreed with cmort666...
Also, Medieval Times were not a Greek cultural period (In fact, they were 400+ years after the birth of Christ); if you can't get the times right, just say "I believe in ..." and don't try to cite evidence that isn't supportable. It's embarrassing for you and for everyone who reads it. Your cause and effect need some serious work on the justification end as well. You can't just assert something as a historical fact (despite that it's just not as you say) and then walk away washing your hands saying "because x is asserted I disbelieve it" or something to that extent.
You should say why that conflicts with your beliefs. I'm not asking you to prove belief but at least make the connection. It's intellectually lazy to do otherwise. As a student at Liberty University, you should come armed with rhetorical skills that transcend what you wrote.
I'd like to hear why you think that the possibility of extraterrestrial life is something in which you do not believe. No free passes for saying that something is part of a particular belief system (even if you get it right). Full points for citing your own faith though; that is something unassailable. If you had said: "I believe X" then I wouldnt argue. It's the fact that you blithely misplaced hundreds of years of history that makes me annoyed.
Me: I don't know (if I did, I wouldnt be posting it here!). I've seen some strange things and I've researched strange phenomena. I, with only a statistics book in my hand, believe that we are not alone. It's the inverse of the lotto player believing without doubt that this one is the winner.
Doctor Who actually has the time and dimension travel worked out pretty well, but he's a Time Lord. and I'm not.I've seen Heavy Metal. Of course there is life out there. I'm hoping for some of the better looking blue and green girls from Star Trek to show up and offer some inter-planetary travel and vacationing.
