Do you carry a flash light every day?

Yep, I'm a flashlight guy.

Been EDC-ing a flashlight since 1984.

First a Mag Mini-Mag (1984).

Then in the early 1990's I found the SureFire brand and bought 2 6P's and a 9P, I can't begin to tell you how great they were!

I then found Inova in the early 2000's.

Then about 2007 I found Malkoff drop-in's for my SureFires.

These days I find myself carrying/using a Malkoff, SureFire, SureFire/Malkoff combo, Streamlight, or Pelican, along with a Fenix on my key ring.

Just like my firearms, I don't believe in using cheap flashlights, as they fail to work when you need them most.

Having said that there are some very good flashlights now that don't cost a fortune.

Yup. Usually a very small/bright streamlight and end up using it all the time (usually looking for something I dropped).

Tell me more about the 2x2x2 ammo carrier. :)

Yes

First of all, I've carried a knife, everyday, since age 5, or 6, making it eighty years, or more. I don't remember when I got my first flashlight, but, it must have been around the same time that I got my first knife. The oldest flashlight, that I have, was made by Winchester. I don't remember the time when I didn't have, and use it. I would love to know it's age. I am totally addicted to flashlights, have dozens of them, of many types, and brands, and carry ones of them, every day. Upon seeing a new type, I just have to have one! I can just walk into a Battery Plus store, and immediately have a full blown flashlight addiction attack! I am trying to post a picture of that old Winchester flashlight. It uses three c cell bat's.

I keep one in my car, one on my desk, one in my each of my shooting bags. You never know when you are going to need a good light.

thanks for the heads up re: Malkoff. had never heard of them. after some research i'll order one and maybe a drop in for a Surefire. interesting story...Alabama farm boy makes good.

thanks

No, but I carry one every night.

:D

Use to keep a mini Mag light "handy".... just too big to pocket carry and didn't want one on my belt............ I'm now on my third AAA LED light.

First two were streamlights..... first one 'died"; second one still going but has lost at least 50% of its finish ( I also carry a bronze money clip in that pocket)

The current one for about a year or so is a little Fenix LDO2.... still looking new.......I use to carry 2 quarters everyday...... back when there were pay phones......I swapped the Fenix for the quarters. Weight and bulk is about the same!

I carry a Streamlight Micro in my pants pocket everyday. Its come in handy many times. ;)
When I was still working, I carried a Stylus Pro in my shirt pocket.

The 2x2x2 ammo carrier looks like a Galco. They are made for 38/357 but according to their web site last year they were supposed to have a 44/45 model. I have not seen it and could not find that info again on their site. Simply Rugged makes a nice one they refer to as a pouch that accommodates 38's and 45's and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.

You are very welcome!

For my money, Malkoff is one of the finest out there, and as people, Gene and Cathy are the best!

Yes I carry a light daily, a surefire titan AAA clipped to the edge of my wallet. Everything in the picture is carried in my two front blue jeans pockets. No muss no fuss easy all day comfortable carry.

I am the same way except that I AIWB carry my snub. Nothing goes in my back pockets.

I carry a Fenix PD32 all the time and use it often. Under my desk is dark, looking for items that fall, etc. Very handy, multi-mode with strobe. I also carry a Klarus Mi7 in my pocket and one in each car. All use rechargeable batteries. Lots of other flashlights strategically placed around my office/home. We do get occasional power outages, so they come in handy.

I have one on me or nearby. Recently had a friend fall. Broke a glass. Three guys pulled out phones trying to access his injuries. Essentially useless. I pulled an Olight out of my pocket to shed some light on the subject.

Done.

And I've found what may have been adequate lighting in my younger years is no longer adequate. Out comes my flashlight.

I always have one of my Streamlight AAA in my pocket, I have 2 and have carried them so much the black anodizing has worn off both of them.
Only problems the rubber coves over the on/off switch wears out after a while. I called Streamlight and they sent me 6 for spares.
with work and whatever i am doing around home or the garage I probably have one out using it 25 times a day.

The light stays in the same pocket as the Swiss Army knife.

If I don't have the knife or the Streamlight on me means I don't have my pants on....I won't shock you guys with a picture of that:)

Yup, it's a Streamlight Stylus Pro. Clips to my right front pocket. I carry the lighter in my left front pocket.

I carry the same light every day, and would be lost without it. I probably use it more than I know - a few times i didn't have it and that's when it was missed most!

I put some heat shrink tubing (for electronics or wire) over the clip - that helps keep the clip from snagging on stuff.

If it is dark out I have a flashlight with me, or close by. Like the Maglite XL50 Compact LED 3AA. for carry. Small and bright, with three settings. 200 lumen/ 50 lumen/ strobe. Maglite 624 lumen LED 3D for other uses like checking outside the house at night. Also keep some cheap 3 AAA compact LED flashlights for walking around the house at night. The newer LED sure beat the older incandescent lights for brightness.

I just recently started carrying a flashlight. Took me a while to find the right one, but I did. I discovered that I was either wishing I had one or borrowing one from a friend quite often.

More than that, it's a great defensive tool. Not only can it be used to temporarily blind the bad guy, but it's a great striking tool/force multiplier and legal to carry in every state.

I've landed on the Streamlight 1L-1AA.

I carry the same light in my pocket every day. I have carried some kind of small light for over 20 years. Of course I have bigger lights around the home and in my car which I will sometimes use instead, but the pocket carried light is quick to find, quick to use, and quick to stow when done. So even if a bigger, better light is available, I use the pocket carried flashlight more often.

I use it frequently, at least in part because as I have aged my eyesight is poorer in dimly lit situations.

Here are some recent uses:

Used it on an overnight flight to find things in my carry on bag, seat pocket, or on the floor
Shined it inside a rental car to find controls not illuminated by the overhead light
Read a menu with small print in a dark restaurant
Found my wife's contact lens on the floor in a store
Entertained a grandchild in broad daylight
Identified cords and plugs in a church closet with no light
Found someone's keys under their sofa
Signaled to my wife across an outdoor crowd. Yep, she knew it was me.
Checked my son's throat for infection
Read a date on a worn coin
Checked for lint deep in my EDC gun's action
Found my wife's contact on the carpet at home (I know)
Clamped in my mouth while using two hands to figure out how to open a small clasp on my wife's necklace
Helped an elderly lady out of a store with no power. The emergency lighting was not enough for her to see her way out.
Flashed an annoying free roaming neighborhood cat in the eyes
Numerous times at night for vehicle needs
Read a tire date code (black on black, small type) on my trailer parked in the shade
Punch in my safe code for my gun when I put it away and it's dark and my wife is already asleep

And dozens of other times, including lending it to others who needed it for some reason.

Sure, if I didn't have it I and everyone else probably wouldn't care, because I'd be like 99% of the other people out there. But I get a lot of "Thank Yous", and I like that. Because I do carry a light, life is a little easier and kinder for me.

Maybe some day I'll be a BA and use it defensively. Or fool a traffic light. Or just for fun shine it back in a cop's face at a traffic stop. Well, maybe not.
