Do you carry a revolver for CCW? Which one?

I assume this being the S&W forum revolver section most people here carry a revolver for CCW, but perhaps not.

What do you carry; revolver or auto? If revolver, what is your primary carry?

Almost always carry a bobbed 360PD j frame when holstering. Have been known to slip a BG380 in my pocket when dressed lightly/in a hurry. Revolvers rule for reliability and simplicity of function.

Yes....and no. Sometimes a czech.

37 no dash in a Lobo enhanced pancake. Going to add a 19-4 to the rotation soon.

Well, it might be a 19-3 and also added a 342Ti which is so light I can't belive it is a revolver. I stick it in the Lobo holster and it absolutely disappears. Granted, it is a handful to shoot and I will have to tailor the loads to the light weight, but what a treat.

Never leave the house without s and w 351 PD.(about 10.5 ounces) It has 7 22mag 40 grain Speer GDHPs. I would like to find the S and W internal hammer 32 h and r mag version in this revolver. With my luck, if I ever leave it home just once, that will be the only day I ever need it, so its always in right front pocket. I watched a you=tube video of this round into an un-opened can of dog food. It has more punch than I want to stand in front of. I am fairly accurate with it. As Hickock says, Life is good!

I carry a model 649 chambered for .357 mag, inside the waistband on my right hip. So far, this has been the best compromise for CCW in the seated position in the car, just walking around, etc. I carry in leather to avoid chafing, and my holster has a special clip that hooks over my light belt to prevent the holster coming out with the gun when I draw. My holster also has a special wire around the opening for the gun so I can return the gun to the holster without looking down to put it in the the holster. That way I can keep looking around for the inevetable additional problems.

I am considering going to a shoulder rig because it is even more advantageous to comfortable in vehicle carry. My concerns are that I have trained the drawstroke from the hip for something like 23 years now, and if I choose my shirt carefully I can literally carry all day wearing shorts and a t-shirt, and only a cop who knows what he's looking for is likely to spot me. If I shoulder rig that puts the gun under my right armpit. No t-shirt, and I might have to start picking out CCW clothes that will cover properly.

I just realized that I hadn't responded to this post yet. My primary carry revolver is a S&W65-3 3". Probably the finest fighting revolver they ever made!

I have an older Chief but carry a Model 59 in my vehicle. My wife has the Model 637 Airweight and a BG380. I have carried a Chief since 1968.

I normally carry a 1911 of some sort. My favorite is an "illegitmate" CCO Colt pieced together with a light weight Officers frame and topped off with a Commander top end. This is a great shoulder holster rig in a Miami Classic [or original ******* rig]. I carry two 8 Round mags on the off side mostly to balance the rig.For a more compact gun I carry a Charter Arms .44 with the barrel cut back to 1&7/8" and small grips. It's the same size as a Chief Special and it is brutal to shoot but,if you need it, it is just the ticket. Perfect in a windbreaker pocket for traffic stops and it doesn't make the driver antsy 'cause he doesn't know what's in your hand in that pocket!I have an early Mod. 60 snub and a mod. 60 3" Mag[also brutal with Mags!] which I love for casual woods bumming. I recently aquired a Colt Cobra and am currently looking for a Colt Agent 2nd issue. Nick

Off duty, if wearing an outer garment (holster carry) Glock 26, otherwise, S&W 642 or Ruger LCP (right front pants pocket) depending on how tight my pants are. :)

The 642 or LCP are always in my left front pants pocket while on duty as my backup

640 Pro with Buffalo Bore 158 grain 38 Special+Ps and I carry it in a Lobo Pancake or Lobo IWB, and a speedloader for a reload. This is year around carry.

I got my CCW license in the early 70's. My first two carry's were the 357mag colt python 6"barrel or a ruger police servive six in 357mag with a 2 3/4" barrel also. I also switched to a 1911a1 in 45acp time to time too. Then when the first ruger redhawks in 44mag were offered I purchased a 5 1/2" barrel and a 7 1/2" barrel. I carried either one in a shoulder holster at night on my motorcycle too. Then when the CZ82 was offered in 9mm makarov I started carrying this one more than the rest. Last year i purchased my first new S&W M58 w/4" barrel and a new S&W M57 w/6" barrel both in 41mag and both in nickel finish. Right now I switch between the CZ82 in 9mm mak and the S&W M58 in 41mag. I do perfer the 41mag for CCW carry. After all these many years of CCW carry i'm still hooked on the magnums. My new S&W M58 in 41mag sure does look sweet. While i still like the auto's there's nothing like a big revolver.

Lately I have been carrying a model 1911 in 2 of the smaller sizes, but I do occasionally switch back to a revolver. When I do it is a model 19 w/ 21/2" bbl or a 2" model 36.

640 no dash, Federal 147 +p+, D.M. Bullard IWB @ 3:30. Extra five on a strip alongside the moneyclip :)

Here in Florida, I carry my 642 loaded with Glaser Safety Slugs in my front right pocket with a NAA .22 folding grip as a backup. In colder climes I carry my Glock 30 in .45

4" Model 19 if I can dress enough to conceal it, otherwise it's a Bodyguard 38.
