Do you have a grail gun??

You might be surprised

Strange as it might sound, my last was a model 65 w/3" barrel. They may be plentiful where you are but around here they don't exist and the online prices were outrageous. Found one locally at a decent price just before Christmas. Next want (that I can't possible afford) is a 27-2 with a 3" barrel and nice bluing. :(

*Forgot to add- rubiranch you make me very jealous when I see your guns!

Three inch Model 19 (500 or so made in the mid-70s) or a gun that was never made a 3" 65NL.

I've got three 3" 66s ..... two -3s I got new in the late 80s the third a -4 I found used about a decade ago

I'm with you on a 3" Model 19 as being my grail gun. A beautiful one came up on Gun Broker a few months back. ANIB with all the paperwork, etc. When the bidding went north of $5K I realized that I was out of my league. I bought one of the 66-3 three inch guns new when they came out and am glad I did. For now I have to settle with my Pre-Model 29, 4" which was shipped the month and year I was born - July '57.

Managed to obtain my grail gun. I am very, very, appreciative to the member who let me acquire it, and it began my slide down a slippery slope.

Don't know if the factory actually turned out one, but I've long wished for a 4-inch Triple Lock in .38-40 Winchester.

Well ... face it. I'd take any N-Frame Smith & Wesson factory chambered for .38-40.

When it comes to grail guns, I have acquired a few of mine over the years, but this Phil Quigley-engraved, Keith Brown-stocked, Marvin Huey-cased set is one of the last ones I would part with if I was ever required to sell my collection...

Unbelievable set. I'm not asking what you paid or what they're worth; but if a group of wealthy gun lovers were at an auction and these came up, what is a crazy - but possible - price that might be paid for this one-of-a-kind offering? Thanks

I sure appreciate you sharing your guns with us.
Those are simply incredible.!!!!

I got 2 holy grail gun I got a 1942 Springfield Garand and a Smith and Wesson 4506-1. I have waited along time for both.

Once I figure out how to post picks I will post them.
Thanks
Ric

I would like a Springfield Model 1922 in 22 LR. I have one, built in 1922, that has been worked over to 22 Hornet and would like a mate in Long Rifle.

For S&W, I guess my grail would be a 1950 Target Model in 45 ACP. Might even trade my 38 HD for it!

My grail guns have changed over the years, and almost all of them I have been able to get.
The one that has eluded me and probably will never come to be, is a Triple Lock in 44-40. I have triple locks, even a target with 5" barrel, but I have never even seen a TL in 44-40 for sale before, ever.

I saw one of my grail guns several years back at the Louisville Gun Show. A guy had a table with only one gun on it, and it wasn't even put together! That's cause it was laying in its oak and leather case. :D It was a Royal Grade H&H double in .577 NE, hand detachable side locks, 3 Leaf Rear, Gold bead front (as in GOLD) with a huge flip up ivory night bead, fully engraved, gold inlaid elephants, brand new, all accoutrements like the ivory handled turnscrews, oil bottle, cleaning rod, etc, etc were present. I actually thought it was priced reasonably at $100,000.
He wouldn't take my check. :D :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

(I didn't really offer to buy it- couldn't)
