Do you really carry ALL the time?

Yes, any time outside the house I am armed. Unless I am entering the Post Office, courtroom (county allows guns in courthouses just not the courtroom proper) or a school I always carry. Concealed is concealed. I do not even worry about businesses posted as there is no weight of law other than trespass after refusal to leave. I have had an encounter when not armed in the past and it will not happen again.

Lately my choice of carry is a .38 revolver K-frame or Colt Agent.

Only when I have pants on. ;) At the very least, I have a NAA .22 Mag clipped in my front pocket. Most of the time I have something larger as well. What that is varies based on clothing and where I will be. Anyplace I can't at least carry the NAA last resort, I avoid if at all possible.

My personal preference is to have a pistol on my hip everyday, all day. There are some situations where legally I cannot have it with me (or even in my car) when I travel to NJ or another state that prohibits self defense.

Non-carry states notwithstanding, I have it on me all the time. It's usually a government model 1911 .45auto, or a full-size .357 magnum revolver, or an HK P7. I always have at least one spare mag or speed strip.

I put my pants on in the morning with my carry pistol. I keep it on until I retire to bed. If the dog needs to go out in the middle of the night, on go my pants, with the .45.

The safety of myself and my family is my responsibility and obligation, and its an obligation I take seriously.

No...working in the yard, reading in my study, engaging in quiet time hobbies, I want to be free of the weight and the responsibility.

Unto each his own, but my EDC guns ( .380 Bodyguard or Taurus PT .22 ) are small enough and light enough, even with extra magazine, that I literally forget I have them on me much of the time.

Many times I have gone all day without having a conscious thought about my gun after putting it in my pocket when I get dressed in the morning.

Yes - After 30+ years on patrol in NY City, however, I'm always conscious of the presence of any firearm I'm carrying. The nice thing about being a civilian is that I don't have to carry all the time. For me, it's quite liberating.

my problem in Massachusetts are restrictions on storage of a handgun in a motor vehicle. I have to go to a number of places where one cannot legally have a gun, and in some places leave it in a car either. What I did no notice is whether one carried or not when having a drink. I am not saying going out to drink but a glass of wine in a restaurant, etc. Any thoughts on that?

The main problem with being in Massachusetts, is being in Massachusetts.

If you are willing to live and/or work there, you have already made the decision that being deprived of the right to legal self-defense is not much of an issue with you.

I had to laugh at myself today.. I left the house without my wallet or cell phone.

But I had my primary carry and bug on me..:)

2 of my 3 gun clubs were no-carry zones until this year. One changed 2 months ago to allow concealed carry, but must remain concealed. The other no-carry has a bar in the club house, which also has the ranges in the basement and a meeting room/wedding hall off the bar. For safety, you must shoot before you drink. Then you can drive home. :) At the third, we carry open, concealed, whatever.

The gun club I belong to is no carry also .. all has to do with insurance I think .. Even though it has 7 differing length ranges ..

Everywhere I'm legally allowed to carry, I certainly do. Even at home, puttering around in the garage or doing yardwork.

Gun clubs that are no-carry zones? That's absurd.

The one that just started to allow concealed carry also only allowed one round to be loaded in any rifle at a time, even 22. Slow to change rules. Mostly a trap club though.

Unless it is related to liquor licenses and state laws wrt carrying where alcohol is served, this is pure BS. Insurance shouldn't have anything to do with it. I know that NRA club insurance has no such restrictions as one of my clubs is so insured and the other club is privately insured and with no restrictions.

Sounds like a FUDD club, nothing more. I used to get grief at my first club (which I quit long ago) for carrying on the property. They had no use for personal protection, it still is strictly a bullseye and skeet/trap club with no respect for any other type of shooting. NMT 5 rds loaded on the indoor range, NMT 6 rds loaded on the outdoor range, single load only thru a concrete tube for CF rifle and if you shoot your carry gun you are prohibited from reloading and reholstering it on the property!!!

The two clubs I belong to now, people OC or CCW, no grief at all, lots of varied shooting activities and members are respected.

Ya every day. Today this is what I'm carrying.

I have little kids. We run, wrestle, and play. They jump on me, beg to be swung and tickled. We go to the park, and I chase them around, falling in the grass and running up and down slides. I'm not about to tell my kids that they can't surprise hug me around the waist, or I can't hang from the jungle gym or roll in the grass with them. I also don't want to avoid hugs from friends we may run into while we are out. Real, genuine hugs, not the tepid CCW hug.

I live in an urban area. We often make short trips by bike, or on foot. There is not always a car to leave my handgun in if we go someplace spontaneously where it is impractical if not entirely illegal to carry.

I like to drink beer when I meet out with friends. Sometimes I like to drink too much beer. Sometimes I like to drink way too much beer.

Some of my friends are gun folks. Some are not. Some I've never broached the subject with, and never plan to. Being armed everyday, while possible for me if I plan my life around it, is impractical at best, joyless at worst. I'm thankful to live, work, and play somewhere where it is not a necessity, and I hope it remains optional.
