DOB for a model 39-2

Would someone please tell me where I can find information needed to date a 39-2, actually about 20 of the then from 1000xx to 662xxx. All help is appreciated

You need to buy a copy of "The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson" by Supica and Nahas. That is the source for most information regarding things "S&W". The 3rd edition is the latest.

Thanks Guy, I appreciate the offer the lowest of my collection is A148xxx and the highest, which as a matter of fact is an odd looking piece. It appears to be parkerized. I thought it was a steel frame when I first found it. It's serial number is A662XXX. If you all need the entire number, I have no problem providing them.

The 39-2's were made from 1954 to 1982. The numbers you gave are 1970-71 for the low one and the higher # is from 1981.
