DOB?

We have Grandfather's S&W revolver and are researching it's history. If possible, can you give us the date of manufacture from the following specs.

M&P Model of 1905, .38 Special, 6" barrel, blue, round/ brown checkered grips w/ gold medallion and raised 'diamond' around grip screw [wood grips I assume] s/n 227134

Would love to send pics, but have error code, so I beleive the computer pics are too large and will have to 'research' how to do this.

Definitely pre-WWI, likely 1915 give or take a year. It was made before heat treating was started.
