Does anyone have custom grips on their Model 19 Carry Comps?

Been saving up and finally have enough to buy my first ever pistol.
Got my eye on the Model 19 3” Carry Comp.

I’d like to buy some slightly larger wood grips because my hands won’t be comfortable using the boots the revolver comes with.
If any of you guys have pictures of the wood grips you put on your Model 19 Carry Comps or recommendations as to what I should go with it’d be greatly appreciated.

F Comp with Culina Targets

I hope this is helpful. I believe this Performance Center 3" compensated Model 66 may be a stainless steel version of your Model 19.
Some might say that the target stocks look too large on a 3" revolver. But I hold with the theory of art criticism "form follows function". The function in this case is to allow me to control this revolver when rapidly and accurately firing .357 Magnums. The form of these Culina Targets fulfills the function beautifully.

Welcome to the Forum

While I do not own a Model 19 K-Comp, I do own a Model 66 F-Comp and a Model 586 L-Comp

The finger groove wood grips that came with the F-Comp are perfect for me and I have never even thought of changing them. I think Altamonte made them for the Factory

The 586 L-comp cane with the same Ace boot grips that are on the Model 19 K-Comp. However the L-Comp also came with a set of Hogue Bantam rubber grips. While I love the look of wood, these Bantams worked very well for me so I keep them on the revolver

There are LOTS of other choices available to you. The older Factory manufactured Combat Grips are among my favorites. They always felt good in my hands. While they are harder to find, you must hit the auction sites, walk the gunshows or place a WTB as here on the Forum, but they are worth the effort. Here is a set on my Model 66 snubby

While I like the look of the Banana grips, especially the smooth ones, I do not find them very hand filling.

That's the issue with asking for/giving recommendations on "what grips"; hands like feet come in all different sizes.

While I have liked the looks of factory Combat grips the finger grooves just don't "fit" my fingers.... my little finger feels pushed away from my ring finger weakening my grip!

For "Me" the best grips are Craig Spegel Boot Grips and Extended Boot Grips...... they fit "my hand" best. Before I discovered Spegel, back in the 80s, the factory "banana" grips were the best for me on round butt K-frame 19s and 66s. I even cut some down to "Boot Grip" length!

Here's an example of Craig Spegel Extended Boot Grips on a Model 547

Probably the most comfortable grips I own.

Here you go, Spegel boot grips on a M19 Carry Comp.
These are his standard boot grips from a length perspective, they do not extend below the gripframe, you can order them as Boot Plus length, where they extend below the gripframe about 1/4".
These grips also have optional S&W medallions with slightly smaller speed loader cut, just one option of many (checkered or not, extended or not, type of wood - these are Cocobolo).

Yeah, I’m gonna look into picking up some extended boot grips from Spegal. Though I’ve heard the wait times to get them are brutal

Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of Smith &Wesson revolvers. You have selected a great model.

Most of us have a drawer full of different grips and a wash tub full of holsters. Every one in my collection was going to be "the one ". It took me a while to learn that I have to think of them as experiments and not mistakes.

One grip setup that has stayed in the line up began as a very cheap experiment. I may have twenty bucks into it and it serves as both grips and a method of carry.

Barami Clip Grip and a Packmyer grip adapter. You can find these on eBay.
