Does anyone here drink Energy Drinks like those from Monster?

I must be broken in some way :o
I can drink a "RedBull" and go right back to sleep

Thats what I mean? Ive tried several and feel zero difference. The only reason I still buy Monster-is because I like the Java and the Rehab flavors. If anything? I might be relaxed a bit after drinking one.

I enjoy the Monster Absolute Zero. That is my "coffee" fix. Driving home after 12 hour shift can be a challenge on occasion and it has helped keep me awake.

I wish we had the other flavors of the coffee drink here? All we get is the Kona and one other--which are OK, but not as good as the Moca Loca. I looked online-they have at least 8 coffee flavors.

I've found the 5-hour energy drinks to be effective for a couple-three hours, with no real aftereffects. Probably no better than a cup of coffee, but a lot more convient to carry. I keep a couple in glove box.

Now if you want a REAL eye-opener, try a Double-Mocha Cappuchino Alert, from WaWa. :D That stuff will pop your eyes open I tell you.

Sounds good. The closest we come to that here is Starbucks

The reason you need something half way through the day is because you're crashing off the caffineatted corn syrup you drank when you woke up.

I do eight hours of sleep a night and a mix of green and black teas and some exercise to get my endorphins going when I wake up and I'm good for the day.

The trouble with that, is I crashed before I ever tried any. The only thing keeping me going-are long somewhat brisk walks. The drinks except moca--i drink are low or no sugars. But I know your right on crashing though :-))

i had a co-worker thet used the 5 hour energy, he swore by them .
ive never tried any, i rely on a balanced diet and a good nights sleep.
and maybe a pot of coffee every morning for the last 30+ years :)
i do use gatorade type sports drinks but for a different reason-muscle cramps

Long term use of energy drinks is an accident waiting to happen.

Remember, everything in moderation and too much of a good thing..........

That is great advice. I limit one on most mornings--average 24 a month, and I average maybe 8 in late afternoon or early evenings. I know of a local teen who died from them who had several a day. He drank them like I do Decaf tea or water.

The Monster coffees are actually my favorites but I usually take a Red Bull when I go to work. Not many people know it but "Red Bull" is actually Japanese for "Tastes like urine." :D

Yes, it gives me energy but a couple vitamin B caps in the AM do just as well.

Try the "Zipp Fizz" powder from Costco. It's basically a vitamin bomb that works really well.

They dont have Costco here, do they do mail order? I take vitamin B12, but dont feel any more alert.

Ringo. You really make me smile sometimes. Energy drinks?!?! Now that right there is funny. See, I used to watch young people, especially my grand kids and think, "boy howdy, it would be great to have all that energy!" But just about the time I was getting to the place where I might have considered drinking something like that I had a MAJOR epiphany.

I was visiting a old friend one time a few years ago (older than me) and we were watching some sports thing on tv. I said something about how it must be to have so much energy. He looked at me like I had a booger on my shirt.

WHY would you want any energy?

As I thought about it it dawned on me. If I had energy I'd be out doin' all that crazy stuff the youngsters are doin' and probably suffer serious bodily injury. Shorten my lifespan for sure. Also made note of the fact that old people don't handle pain all that well.

No. It's best I just sit here and be still. As far as caffeine goes I'm all over that. Doc says don't do it but I figure what he don't know won't hurt ME. ;) Caffeine is not an energy drink per se. Now the stuff you're talkin' about IS energy producing and will cause you to want to get up and get busy. Caffeine on the other hand stimulates you MIND but doesn't make you want to get up and do something foolish. A little buzz between the ears in the mornin' works for me.

In fact you might even be able to tell when I have that buzz goin' by the amount of baloney in my posts....like NOW. :) Yep, I got a good one going at the moment.

I have had this laying around for maybe 30-40 years, have no idea why I have kept it.

I drank one can only and never touched it again. In fact after drinking it I believe I could have become the "World Cart Wheel Champion"

I think this was the initial introduction to the so called energy drinks of today. How many remember this stuff?

As you can see one of them opened by itself:rolleyes:

I'll stick with my ground Chock full O' Nuts coffee made on my stove top percolator for any needed boost of energy.

Sometimes you guys make me work so hard with some of these threads.;)

I wouldn't drink it after all that time. Might have the opposite effect.

And in my very humble opinion Chock Full O' Nuts is the best coffee on the market. Great taste and never bitter, even when Miss Pam loses count and puts in an extra scoop or two. :D

It's the Heavenly Coffee;)
Us old guys can giggle once in awhile, not everyone understands us.:)

The Jolt is heading to the trash tomorrow.

And im reading this post while about 15 kids are happily creating some fun, right outside my window. On the booger on the shirt, glad I already finished drinking my big red zero when I read that. :-))
