Colorado has a 7yr (?) waiver for new vehicles. After that it is every two years.I'm talking about everyday cars and not the classic or collectors that someone will inevitably chime in about.
I have a '06 F150.In 2014 the emissions place hooked up a plug to something under the dashboard and ran the vehicle on the dynamometer.I'm assuming that they hooked up to the vehicles OBD (Onboard diagnostics). My truck "fast passed" and I was on my way.
I went today to get the emissions done and was talking to the man whose vehicle was right in front of mine.As his vehicle pulled off the dynamometer I waited for my truck to get tested.Instead of getting tested my truck was pulled up to the exit door and in less than a minute I was on my way.The report I got didn't list any levels of CO2 or other toxins. It just said that it passed.
Would I be correct to assume that the OBD is capable of saying that my truck is emissions compliant without hooking up a hose to the exhaust system? The truck is 10yrs old with only 69k on it and the only thing done to it in that time has been oil changes and the air filters replaced.
