We share the gun safe so she has some idea and thinks too many. I recently sold or traded off five and she was happy with that. Most of what I own has come over the years and often with overtime money. Now that I'm retired and on a fixed income I'll be just trading guns.

I don't even know, how could she? I've always thought it best not to lie, so me not knowing is an advantage. She's usually not the one asking, but the answer is the same. I don't know. Its true, too. Nor do I care. All I know is that sometimes I see a new one that I need. Not really new, just new to me. I buy it and bring it home. You can add +1 to the old total if you like.

I do know specific guns.

What Dick said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JIM............

My wife had a rough guesstament. Like many here, I don't know the exact number myself. But she got to see and handle every one I ever bought.
Some she liked, but most she soon forgot about once they entered the safe. She knew which ones were hers and how to use them. On range days she would often look to see what I was taking and pick them up for a look see.
We had an understanding. As long as the bills were paid, there was food in the house and any other needs were met, she didn't care what I bought.
OTOH, she was quite frugal. Sometimes while she was out and about I would get a phone call where she had found this or that and asking if she could buy it. I can't remember ever saying no. I always told her that it wasn't necessary to call first. That if she wanted it and had the money, just get the thing. But often she would still call.
God, how I miss her.

Though I've been accused of "sneaking" some in, she knows quite well.

Save for the last few, I've had them all for many years.

Mine doesn't know but could find out very easily if she wanted to know.
Being she is almost 10 years younger than I, and women generally live 10 years longer than men, I told her they are all going to be hers sooner or later.

nope.... BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA we all have secrets. But shed nag me til the day after forever if she knew how many I have and any new ones i get

She doesn't know and so far has never questioned me about how many. I am very careful not to have too many out of the safe at one time!

Kinda knows but I keep it out of most discussions. I just hate when the gun shop calls and leaves a message regarding a transfer pickup, and she picks that up.

I got hell one day because of a phone call. Now i tell them to e-mail me. George from Wilson Combat-made me laugh one day because i said to him. When my W.C. comes in please don't call the house--e-mail me. He said -you to !!! Over half of my customers say the same thing-not to call !!!!

Same as with my fly rods. When she asks why I need so many and after about 2 minutes into the explanation her eyes get glazed over and she says "I'm sorry I asked" ;)

Yes --Fishing & Guns !!!! That me !! 86 fishing rods !
Even my Dad ask-Why so many rods ? I start by naming all the fish in the sea. Why ever rod is made for that one fish. After about 10 he walks away and says -Your NUTS !!!

My wife has made a list of everything and keeps it on the computer. She keeps a copy in the safe and a copy or 2 hid in different places in case the safe gets hauled off. I wouldn't live with a woman that I had to hide things from. Larry

That's why !!! Eating fresh fish is great !!

Not only does she know, she has shot them all. Most times, it's her dragging me to the range.
Oh, and she can out shoot me most days, but I don't mind as she in a former LEO!!!

Wow -does she have a sister ? You are a lucky man. While i'm reading the post my wife is nagging me to go to the gym and i want to go to the range today and shoot. I hate the gym and she hates the range. Do i hate it when she is home from work..

Mine knows a rough number, but I've told her there is a list with sn#'s and approximate current values and she knows which family members I trust to sell them if something should happen. She should be ok for a few years.
I haven't told her about the 375 Marlin on the way to my dealer right now, hope to have it Friday.

No, she does not know the exact number. But she knows how many she has. She made me proud and decided she would like to find a 3913 for herself.

Before I use to order them so the brown truck delivered when she wasn't home, or I would pick them up when she wasn't around. Now she's home with me all the time . She has gotten into buying them now so were both happy. Need a bigger place to keep them now.

When she saw a new one before I use to tell her I've had that one for awhile "I told you about it", course I never did. She wouldn't have said anything about buying them I just never told her before when I could hide them. In the closet, behind the door, under the bed, on the wall rack, (seems like hide it in plain sight worked well she never seemed to notice them hanging on the wall in the bedroom). The only thing she complains about is when the brown truck delivers ammo and she has to carry 880 rounds of 7.62X54r or 8mm mauser says it's too heavy with the wooden create and just leaves it outside for me, no neighbors so it can stay there for a long while.
