Don’t make food without your glasses

I took a home-ec class in 7th grade. Final assignment was a multi-course meal. Salad or soup, main course and a dessert. We split it up and one guy was supposed to do the dessert.
Now, whether it was vision problems or just being stupid, the dessert guy added not the 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the recipe. He put in 1 1/2 cups of salt. When we told the teacher it was inedible, she told us that food was expensive, and we would have to eat it as we weren't going to waste that money. She went on for a couple minutes about it. I finally asked her to just take a bite.
"Just toss it and don't tell anybody."

Eyes were sensitive one morning so just used the stove vent fan light. For lunch made a nice sandwich wheat bread deli turkey, swiss cheese lettuce tomato and mayo . Thought about that sandwich all that morning , when finally able to stop unwrapped it and bread was moldy

Mom & Dad grew up during The Great Depression so food was not wasted, as far as they knew. If bread was starting to become a science experiment, he would scrape it off when we kids weren't around. More peanut butter would cover the taste that was still on it. There were 5 of us kids, so it was a rare occasion to have moldy bread, but it happened once in a while. Jelly we could spoon the mold off the top. Dip would get the mold, but it seemed to come from the store that way. I don't think I remember dates on food back then.

Wife is away for 2 weeks in Florida and I made my track sandwich yesterday. Started to feel nauseated about 2:00 but figured must just be first day of the season sickness that happens when you ride shotgun at 150 mph. It was a long ride home and I collapsed in bed about 6pm. Not a good night. Woke up to find this in the bread box. At least the dog didn't get sick. Ug. 1 more week to go. I'd better be more careful :)

You made penicillin!!!!!!!!!

I always heard not to keep bread, crackers, etc in the fridge because the starches crystalize and it will go stale much faster
