I recently picked-up some of this ammo direct from Double Tap. I was looking for a non +P alternative for some J frames that weren't +P rated. And at slower velocities, hollow point ammo doesn't always expand. And if it does, it may not penetrate deep enough.

I Chrono'd these through a 1 7/8" J and 2" Kimber. Average velocity was around 730-740 fps (advertised is 750).

That seems to be a little better than most offerings (600ish fps), without stepping up to some of the hotter choices (Buffalo bore & Underwood) and possible over-penetration if used for self-defense. And the price is decent based on what's currently available on the market.

I can't really comment on accuracy or felt recoil (it was less than the +P's I was also chronoing), as that wasn't what I was really paying attention to.

So, if you're looking for a non +P option for self-defense without too much overpenetration (or worrying about penetration & expansion with an HP), these may work for you.

I've never heard of the manufacturer, but, as you mentioned, that's a pretty good velocity from a snubnose for WC ammo. Hope they're accurate as well.

Double Tap makes awesome ammunition. They're in the same league as Black Hills but aren't as well known.

On their website, there’s no photo of the actual cartridge. Is the bullet seated completely flush with the case mouth? Concerned about whether these would feed in a M52.

Yes, they are flush.
