Bills

The above is a link to the proposed NY Bill S01422. It is a draconian nill that essentially will ban just about every gun in the State and force people to either destroy them or turn them in! NO GRANDFATHERING!

All NY residents MUST contact their representatives and the Governor now, before it is too late.

What decent, working people need to do is start leaving these leftest cesspool states (I know there are many fine folks left in NY and others) to their own idiocy. Once the producers are gone, they can sleep in the bed they've made. Maybe if the decent folks from lefty states move to swing states they could make a difference in the next election... Florida is a nice and gun friendly swing state. ;)

Federal money for schools that have shooting ranges in them ?

Does anyone know for sure if schools get federal money for having a shooting range in the school whether it's used or not? In my area a lot of schools have ranges in them for .22 rifles but one by one they've been shutting them down.

I'll tell you what's draconian, retired NYPD guys do not have the automatic privilege of owning, carrying, concealed or otherwise, a handgun like it once was...they have to apply for a permit like everyone else.

That is actually a good thing. Maybe it'll tick all the LE people off too. The cause of freedom can use all the allies it can get.

How about this. My nephew just graduated the Police Academy and is working as an unpaid Special until he can get a department to pick him up as a permanent full time officer. He's with the County Sheriff's department and has to check his handgun in at the station at the end of his shift. He can't put it in the trunk and take it home like any other gun owner who goes to the range. It's just insane here in NJ

Call your State Senator ASAP,the Senate is where these Bills are originating, because they know if it passes the Senate the Assembly will follow. The only thing that will hold this back right now is the NYS Senate, if it goes along with the anti's, this state is toast..

I have a bad feeling this will pass in this state because most of the gun owners in NY do not care or even know about this. A bunch of people at work are gun owners and I mentioned this to them and they said "what ban?". NY gun owners so far are probably the worst in the nation when it comes to knowing anything about firearm legislation. How much support have you seen or heard about our gun rights? I have not read much about it on the net. Illinois gun owners are banning together and fighting hard let us hope we can do the same in this state. I have Schumer and Gillibrand which they do not care at all about us so I'm not going to bother. I did write my rep and my state senator and no replies from them yet.

You know, sometimes I feel just as hopeless, but then I write anyway. Otherwise, what am I a citizen of? You never know whether your opinion or vote will matter, however, you have a choice and you have the power and satisfaction of being able to express your views and have them represented. They are counting on apathy, do not give it to them!

My fellow New Yorkers,
This is what I wrote to my district Senator. I also wrote a similar version to Gov. Cuomo. Please feel free to copy and paste or use as a guide for your own letter. Our voices have to be heard, what choice do we have?
"Dear Senator xxxxxxxx,

I strongly oppose S01422 . As I'm sure you are aware, New York State already has an “Assault Weapons Ban”. We have since 1994. As tragic as the Sandy Hook shooting was, it was a person, not the firearms in question, who committed this crime. I don't see how any additions to the already restrictive nature of our current ban will effectively serve the greater good. As a society, we need to stop blaming the sword for the hand that wields it, rather we need to look at the root causes of the recent trend in mass violence, which I firmly believe are of a socio-economic nature.
Adam Lanza broke numerous laws in the process of committing that heinous act. None of those laws protected those children and faculty who lost their lives. The reason for this is simple. Those who would commit such acts, have no regard for life or the law. However, as appropriate as it might seem in the moment, knee jerk legislation aimed at further restricting firearms, only effects law abiding citizens who have done nothing wrong. It will not stop criminals from obtaining weapons and doing harm and most importantly this bill completely fails to address the root causes of these atrocities and furthermore, it offers no real solutions.
This bill, if passed, will only serve to further strip law abiding citizens of their second amendment rights and as written, is ex post facto and stands to violate the fifth amendment by forcing either destruction or confiscation of private property without just compensation. I urge you to oppose this bill or any other bill that would seek to further infringe on the second amendment or any other civil rights."

Do you really believe that Chuck Schumer cares what I have to say about guns? That man could care less of gun owners and he has shown many times that he does not care. My voice will not be heard writing to him since he does not care to hear what I have to say. He was one of the people who really could care less if Remington moved out of this state so I'm not going to bother to waste my time on him. I will write a letter to Cuomo because he is thinking about running for president in 2016 so he would more likely worth writing to than Schmuck face.

I agree about Chuck. Write your DISTRICT SENATOR, this is a state bill not a federal one, so it will be voted on in the the state legislature. You can find your district here and clicking on it should bring up your district senator's info New York State Senate Districts | New York State Senate
I know how you feel, please don't let guys like Schumer deter you on the federal level.

I already wrote my state senator Tom Libous and no reply along with Richard Hanna.

Whether they are pro or anti most likely all you'd get would be a boiler plate response anyway.

I remember writing Gillabrand and Schumer about the ATT treaty still being discussed at the UN and it took them a while to send me a reply. The point is you wrote and I'm sure they got it. Even if they are anti, if there are more of their constituents that are voicing opinions against more gun control, they would be committing political suicide by voting against the majority of their constituents.

Richard Hanna is pro gun republican but I'm not sure about Libous but he is a republican too but that does not mean much in this state as you know.

Why should politicians care about our gun rights. They have bodyguards when needed, and can carry concealed if they choose.
