Drink a lot of water or else

I second that...

After some serious gastric disturbances put me in the hospital with dehydration, and a series of doctors coming in telling me my kidneys failed, I figured I would be on dialysis or dead. But a miracle occured and my kidneys came back. Apparently I had gotten hooked up to the fluids in time. If you start showing signs of dehydration, GET TO A HOSPITAL FAST!!!!

PS: At the time it was a teaching hospital, and I don't think that the doctors thought that I realized that my condition was serious. Finally I told them, "I know it's terrible, but what's the use of crying about it now???"

Have gone through my kidneys failing, and only have 50% kidney function. Force myself to drink more water. However am older, and find it to be a matter of timing for what i want to do. Also suffer from gout, but have learned to seriously douse myself with water when feeling a bout starting. Repeated trips to the bathroom are more pleasant than a bout of gout.

Am also a contrarian, and believe any liquid (coffe/soda) does not replace water. Coffee is a diuretic, and imo displaces more water than it provides.

I don't take much stuff for life's everyday aches and pains.

When I do a nurse friend talked me into using Naproxen (generic Aleve). She claims it's easier on the organs than the rest. My doc says they're all about the same, but Naproxen really works best for me.

Drink up!!

Between one and two gallons of water a day is my routine.

Naproxen is what damaged my kidneys. I was taking it for a bad shoulder. Be careful. My kidney damage was minimal only because my doc does annual blood work and founf it soon enough to regain most of the function.

Be very careful with arthritis strength Tylenol, it'll wreck your liver. BTDT is how I know, got my liver enzymes all out of whack and I felt terrible till I stopped the arthritis strength Tylenol.

Take your weight in pounds, divide by two and convert that to ounces. According to my good friend and naturopath, that is the key to good overall health.
For some of us that is a ton of water, I try and fail from time to time. I make a point of drinking a large glass (16oz) of room temperature water with my morning meds upon rising, at least a couple of those or their equivalent if out of the house, bottled water usually and the same thing before hitting the rack with my evening meds. Drinking water before bed usually leads to a trip to the can around 2-3 am. Drinking water before bed is highly recommended for people with any heart issues.
If you ever find yourself thirsty, that's your body screaming out for water, most of us are walking around in a semi dehydrated state. Other fluids do not count towards your goal and anything alcoholic works the other way as does caffeine. It ain't fun but drink more water, thats the ticket. I've had at least four or five friends end up with stones from never drinking water, one friend claimed to never remember drinking plain water, just drank soft drinks, coffee, beer, etc. My wife drinks a gallon of water a day, she does all my heavy lifting.

Beer has a lot of water in it....

beer is actually a great sports/exercise/hard work recovery drink. If it a basic Amertican "3.2%" beer, it has easily digestible carbs and is mostly water. The alcohol gets converted into sugars.

Bud/Miller/Coors Lite or something similar.
