That is why I logged on this morning; to check availability. I may not buy one but I do want to look them over before spending money on a Kimber Eclipse.

I spoke to an LE rep the other day on the all black CCO type E series.

He said they should hit the market in March....so June/July??

I asked to T/E the round butt gun....we will see what happens.

colt rail

Got tired of waiting for time when these guns would be released , bought a new Colt 45 yesterday . I like smith and wesson ,but , don't list something for sell in your catalog and online unless it is actually available ,thats poor business .

a buddy has a colt rail, its nice.

my only complaint and this is pretty much the general info and with any other colts is very sharp edges.

OH but its stainless.....dehornable at home!!!!

E Series

I haven't seen anything new posted on the availability of the E Series. I sent an email to S&W and was informed they are now shipping to distributors. Anyone heard anyhting on this?

Thanks.

I got mine.

I recently bought a stainless Colt rail gun. It does NOT have the sharp edges. About 500 rounds through it so far using two different brands of magazines, two different commercial ammo brands, and about 3 different handloads.
Not a hitch of any kind.

Dang those E-series pieces are a thing of beauty! Nice gun rbert0005! BTW, whats the real-world average price on a E-Series, stainless with rail? I hear from lots of people that places like GB arent very good for finding many square deals...IDK...

I got mine 3-29-11 the 5 inch stainless,i love it.my kimber does not come close to equaling this pistol.it has worked perfectly right out of the box.have shot 230 fmj and hollow points all functioned perfectly.accuracy was great after i adjusted sight, shot to the left out of box.after adjustment shot 2 inch pattern freehand at 12 yards, good for me.this is one great 1911,best i have ever had, smith and wesson got this one right.the trigger is so smooth and light lots better than my other 1911s.highly recommend this pistol.

jbguns, that's the model I'm interested in. I've got three 1911's now and I've been looking for a another one that looks a little different than the standard ones.

I've read some pretty positive reports on the E Series and I think I'll be getting one as soon as I can find one in a local gun shop.

Hello All,

Do you know if the 'E' series will be available for purchase in California? Thanks. Want to head down to the shop and put money down today!

I want one!!

I haven't seen one yet in the Metro Phoenix area yet, but I'm ready to buy! Can't wait!! S&W Marketing answered me stating they are making them as fast as they can.

I bought my E Series about one month ago

Sorry to say, I haven't had an opportunity to fire the gun as it had to be sent back to S&W for repairs. Mine is a Scandium, bobtail, two tone. When I locked the slide to the rear for the first time I found the slide release to be incredibly difficult to push downward, even with the slide pulled as far to the rear as possible. The second time I locked the slide to the rear I discovered that my new unfired pistol had two scratches on the finish down to bare metal. I don't know if the slide release button has a burr on the back side or what caused the scratching, but needless to say, I was very disappointed. I called S&W customer support and described the situation. They agreed this was not normal and sent a shipping label for me to return the gun, which I did about 2 weeks ago. I called today to check the status and discovered S&W closes for the first two weeks in August. They have my gun, but no repair work has been done. S&W customer service has been responsive, and I hope my new pistol will be returned soon. But, I must admit, it is frustrating to have to return a NIB pistol to the manufacturer for repairs, especially one with a ~$1400 MSRP. I will remain patient and trust that S&W will repair the gun and return it to me soon. Although I am disappointed, this gun is still drop dead gorgeous IMO.
