I just traded into this K-22 and have a couple of questions. First off, it's in very good overall condition with matching serial numbers. The s/n is 21167 which puts it around 1948. My questions are; would it have come in a gold box (the box it came with has the proper serial number) and, the screw driver is nickel plated steel - definitely not aluminum. I thought it should be an all black steel screw driver. Could the screwdriver be original?
Thanks.

The SAT (screwdriver) is period correct. Nickel handle with black shaft was used btw 1940-1948

and

the Blued steel with black shaft was used btw 1940 and 1958.

Thanks.

Beautiful package and I agree with the advice you have received above.

Congrats and thanks for sharing,

Looks like a winner to me, littledog. BTW, be careful with those tools in the box. Being in there loose, they can put some nasty scratches on that beaut. Now, if you are planning on it being something other than a "safe queen", never mind.:)

At K21167, it probably shipped early in 1948, possibly the first quarter of the year, based on nearby serial numbers. It is a dandy, with most of the accessories you would hope to see. If you can pick up a period correct Helpful Hints, the package would be nearly complete.

A great find!
