Looking for some additional info on Victory. Why no US property mark on the top strap. I have heard these are early ones. Also looking for approximate date of Manufacture. Any information would be great. V179845

Others will have a more exact date, but I think this is late 1942. No US Property marks usually indicate that it was issued for civilian use. Hope this helps.

Yours would probably have shipped in very late 1942. Victories without topstrap property stampings will generally be those intended for stateside civilian use by law enforcement, defense plant security guards, etc. These were procured through a Defense Supply Corporation (DSC) contract, and were normally shipped directly to the end user organizations, and a factory letter will show that destination. Strictly speaking, they are not military revolvers. There are a few exceptions, but only a factory letter would reveal that.
