EB update, .please continue thoughts and prayers *Updated on 25 Feb 20:37*

I have a couple of new updates with regard to E.B. I have posted them as I have received them from her mother.

January 16th
EB made the huge step out of PICU yesterday. She does not like to travel and had a kinda rough day once she got there. Finally, they gave her some medicines and she settled done. She had a really good night. And is doing well today. EB is in room 449, but she is not allowed to have visitors since this is the Oncolo...gy/Hematology ward and there is great risk of infection for all the patient here. Thank you all for all your continued prayers. They are working, but we need more to get her through the chemo/radiation and the rehab. Please keep praying for EB!!

Jan. 17th
EB is still in a room! We haven't had been out of PICU this long before! We are glad to see several of her PICU nurses who have come by to check on EB. I always knew that they were a special group of people. EB had to have some pain medicine last night, but I think she could have made it fine without it. I could n...ot have, but she is so much stronger and better than I could ever hope to be. She is my precious little girl that I love so much. I am ready for her to get better, but I know she has a long battle in front of her. Please continue to pray for EB!!!

Jan. 18th
Well, EB is having an alright day today. The doctors are changing her blood presssure medicines to something they (rehab doctors) are more familiar with and will help her storming more they think. She had a lot of physical therapy today and even got a wheelchair today. She is having another CT scan tomorrow so they ...can make sure the shunt is doing what it is supposed to do. Hope for the best with that. Please continue to pray for EB!

Jan 19th
EB had a day of rehab. This morning she went to the PT/OT gym for an hour. She rode in style in her wheelchair. She had to work on holding her head up by herself. She struggled and figured that if she cried, they would stop. Boy was she wrong. She tried to go to sleep when they laid her on the mat, but that just ...meant more sitting up and trying to hold her head up. Then she came back to her room and tried to take a quick nap. Then more PT. She was able to rest for some of the afternoon, but she did not sleep too much. Lets hope tomorrow gives her another good day in rehab. As far as we know, chemo is still on for Monday. Please pray for EB!

Jan. 20th
EB had another exciting day! She went back to the gym. She went cruising in her wheelchair. We went to the deck at the Children's Harbor and watched construction of the new hospital. She did fall asleep, but the trip outside and out of the bed did her good. She also had the cast on her left foot removed and the on...e on her right foot changed. Purple again. But it matches the splint she is wearing on her left foot. An exciting thing about her left foot is that she is pulling her toes up rather than pushing down. Baby steps. Oh wait....I almost forgot the most exciting moment of the day....the spinal tap/lumbar puncture showed no cancer cells in her spinal fluid!!!!! Yipee!!!
EB had lots of visitors today. Aunt Kay and Aunt LeeLee came to see her. Also Marci, Jarrod, and Hannah Grace all came to see them. That was a great visit. Lets hope for an even better day tomorrow. Thank you for all the prayers.

Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers. Please continue to pray for EB and all of those suffering, whether it be from cancer, other illness or tragedy. God bless you.

Thanks for the update Firehouse. That is really good news. I will continue to pray for all of you.

I have been keeping her in my prayers, it is wonderful to hear she is doing so well.

New updates on EB. Again, I have posted these as EB's mother has sent these to me. Thanks.

Friday Jan. 22nd
EB has had basically the same thing going on for the past couple of days. She spends lots of time (a couple of hours - but an eternity for her) in rehab. She has no problem letting them know when she does not like something. She also knows who "strangers" or doctors are when they walk into her room. She has been out on outing to see the hospital. She is sitting up in her wheelchair more now. She has been on a stander in rehab, so it is good to see her vertical even if she is strapped in to the contraption. Today she went to see the dentist. All is well in her mouth, so we feel better about that. This weekend is to be uneventful and chemo will start Monday. Please pray for EB and recovery.

Sunday Jan. 24th
EB has had an uneventful weekend with the exception of a little tummy ache. Hopefully a little medicine will take care of that. I think that it is funny that doctors want her to be wide awake and all this stuff, but give her 2 medicines 4 times a day that cause drowsiness. Imagine that. I asked this morning about t...hat. I was told that right now, since she starts chemo tomorrow (scary) they do not want to change anything until they see how she tolerates the chemo. Please pray for EB and her chemo treatment tomorrow. Thank you for all your prayers so far.

Tuesday Jan. 26th
Well, EB has almost finished with day 2 of chemotherapy. She has done well do far. She did have a little bout of nausea this morning, but that was to be expected. She has even been able to go to the rehab gym this morning. Please pray for a complete recovery for EB and for the cancer to be gone from her body and never return!

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Please continue.

Regards,
Firehouse

Posted by EB's Mom last night. Miracles never cease.

Well, EB had a CT scan yesterday to make sure the shunt was working right. Her ventricles were smaller so it is working fine. Wonderful - one less thing to worry about. We also found out that the rehab doctors think that she needs some time at home to recover and heal before they try intensive therapy with her. So that means EB will be coming home soon. She will still have several 3 day hospital stays in the future. EB's Dad is going home this weekend to clean house, since no one has been there for a period of time in a couple of months. EB has a lot of recovery ahead of her. She is also going to be facing a tough time with her chemo. Please continue to pray for EB on her road to recovery!!!!

That is some good news. Thank you Lord! Prayers will continue.

On a side note, do you know the Al. Gun Collectors show is next weekend? Feb.6 &7.

Thanks Mike, Biker, I'm afraid I won't make that one. Maybe the next one in Montgomery. Thanks for the heads up though.

New update. Thanks.

Well, today was another day of baby steps. EB went to the gym and did much better today. She was able to scream really loudly. She was also able to hold her breath between screams until she turned red. Typical EB for everyone who knows her. I was a really proud momma at that time. She also had a swallow test today. Good news, she can eat ice cream and apple sauce. But she cannot have her sweet tea yet. We saw Dr. Blount in the hall after her swallow test. He was talking about how much better she looked from just a couple of days ago. He said that she was making those baby steps. This makes me feel so much better. She still has to make it out of the Grand Canyon as her doctor put it. The doctors also changed up her medicines. Her 2 o'clock medicines were changed to 4 o'clock and we did not even see a change. I was so excited about that. They are changing up her schedule to a more "home friendly" schedule.

I think I owe a lot of you an apology. I haven't exactly updated you all on the latest progress with EB, and for that I am sorry. To catch you all up, I have some good news. EB went home a couple of weeks ago. She still has to return to Children's Hospital all along to continue her chemo treatments. I believe she is still doing physical therapy as well. I will post an update as written by her Mom a few days ago. I will get back to updating as I find out like I did earlier. Thanks again.

As written by EB's Mom:

EB is home from the lastest week of chemo. She is really tired and exhausted. This was harder on her than the last time. I am still very nervous being home with her, simply because Birmingham is so far away and the construction makes it even longer to get there. EB has made remarkable improvements just since she went to the hospital last week. She is following more simple "commands" and is surprising us all, even though she is really tired. We took her outside today to see her horses, cows and dogs. She smiled when she saw all of them. That was priceless for us. She even held her head up to get a better look. You could see her straightening her upper body to sit up and look. She is such a fighter! Please continue to pray for EB!
