EDC flashlights

We've recently had threads on EDC knives, SAKs and multi-tools. But how many carry a flashlight every day?
I've found that having a flashlight within easy reach to be a very useful tool. I use mine all the time.
My current EDC flashlight is a Streamlight Micro-stream. A tiny one AAA cell light that fits easily in my pocket. It puts out a surprisingly good beam and works for most all my needs.
When I was working, I carried a Streamlight Stylus in my shirt pocket. No more intrusive that an ink pen and always handy.

Do you EDC a flashlight? If so what kind?

My everyday light is a Fenix RC05SE. Apparently the SE is a special order for REI. It has the tail cap switch as opposed to a button on the side. It also remembers the last brightness setting that you used.

It's 4 inches long, just a little bit more than 5/8 in outer diameter. It has a clip but I can't really speak one way or the other about it because I never use it I just carry it in my pocket. 350 Lumens

I carry a little single AA cell LED light. I just bought a six pack of them and I have one at work, one at home, one in the car and the old one I've had for about 8 years or so, with a couple of spares. These are what the new ones look like, the old ones look slightly different, but are just as painful to look directly at. They cost about $6-7 each if you buy a bag of six.

For me, it's a Nebo Inspector RC (rechargeable)...can also use 2 AAA's.

3 light modes (lumens) - 360 / 120 / Strobe (@360 lumens)

All in a slim aluminum package.

Very happy with this light.

I have one I got for Christmas last year that is about 2" long and is recharged by a phone charger. Its brand name is RovyVon and has blinking capability and 3 or 4 different brightness settings. Perfect for checking the inside of a revolver barrel, too. Fits in my watch pocket and don't even know it's there. I checked their website; of course they have others and none are cheap, but this small one is perfect.

The Microstream's clip is great as it can clip to your pocket or to the bill of a ball cap to give you a hands free worklight.

I have a Streamlight Pro-tac 1L/1AA that I've carried for the past four years. Light, compact and durable it puts out plenty of light. One neat feature is that if you can't find a CR123 it will take a standard AA battery. A little bit less output and run time than the CR123.

I, too, carry a Microstream. All day, every day.

Two of my favoites are the Nitecore Tip, a great little rechargeable utility "pocket sized" light..... and the Klarus XT1A. The Klarus handheld is a true 1000 lumen light that can use a single AA, or the rechargeable 14500 lithium-ion battery.

Even small ones have mega lumens these days. Like my LL Bean Moonbeam with handle which glows in the dark for dog walking. Have seen the Ever Ready now that is rechargeable with 700 lumens. No batteries.

I've had this Preon mini-flashlight for a few years, and it's always clipped in my pocket next to my pen - completely unobtrusive, but marvelously handy almost every day. It puts out lumens way above its weight class. Three power levels, easy to change with a twist of the front component. I never have to grope around in the dark. It uses one AAA battery.

I have a number of easily carried flashlights. Several just lie around the house and a bright M5 rechargeable by my bed. I have a Surefire in my car and an OLIGHT Sea Baton in my truck - - but this is 2021 - if I need a flashlight I shake my Android smartphone once and I have a light! So no need to physically carry a flashlight.

I'm another Streamlight Micro-stream guy. Not what I'd call a tactical light but a very practical light. I use them all of the time. I have two, one for my dress pants (I might have two pair) and one for my jeans, which is pretty much all I wear other than my yard work shorts.

Not tacticool but I don't generally carry a full size duty gun or a bunch of ammo either. I think my current load out is 7 plus 5 so the tiny light fits. I always carry a knife too buts it's not a big one either. I guess I'm practicool. At least I am in my own mind. Don't burst my bubble.

When the switch cover on my Protac 2AA got torn I replaced it with one of those in the belt scabbard. After the switch cover was replaced the the Stylus stayed in the scabbard and the Protac went on the active reserve list.

Olight Baton. Super bright. Love the magnetic charger.

I like the magnetic end. Comes in handy when you're having car trouble at night. Just turn it on and stick it on the open hood. The perfect engine light.

I've repeatedly been tempted to get a small Olight LED Flashlight with a rechargeable battery, but every time I find myself dissuaded by the fact that my cell phone has a really bright built in LED Flashlight function, and seeing as I obviously already carry it with me everywhere, getting a separate EDC Flashlight just seems sort of redundant.

That being said, I have recently found myself carrying a Ferrocerium Rod around with me inside of my Winter Coat. I doubt that I'll ever really need it or even find a practical use for it for that matter, but it seems like the sort of thing that would be a lifesaver in the unlikely event in which I should suddenly find myself needing to start a fire for warmth, so why not? I'm already carrying two guns that I'll probably never need either.

I know many have given up on EDC lights with the advent of the smart phone. But I'm in the same camp as watch wearers, which I am. I don't like pulling out my phone to check the time or to use a light. And if my phone had a Swiss army type knife accessory, I'd still carry a separate knife.

Mine is a NEBO "Redline". Buy them at most hardware stores and some gun shops. About 1x3", 1-CR123, pocket/hat clip, 6x focus on light beam, magnetic end, end push button switch, 2 brightness settings and strobe, all for about $14. (The Redline is a "Light on" indicator if in the bulb down position too!)

I carry one as EDC (in car keys pocket) and keep one in every coat pocket! The EDC light's battery lasts me about a year. I have never replaced a coat pocket's battery; the lights are gifted before that is necessary!

For some reason my wife doesn't like small handy flashlights, so the Android phone "Tomahawk Chop" is all she carries! (She has two or three knives, a tape measure and sometimes a Glock 17 in her purse, but no flashlight!) Bullet Points, Facts, & Eternal Truths, make no difference: HER MIND IS MADE UP! (She gets more like me every year!)

I never leave home without my Swiss Army Manager knife, and my Surefire Titan. The Titan runs on a single AAA battery, has an amazing light output, and the most durable finish I've seen on such a device...

For all you phone light guys. Yeah, it works well and is bright. But what if you need both hands to do something? Kinda hard to stuck that phone in your mouth and point it where it needs to shine.

This has been riding in my pocket for a little over a year. It turns on by rotating the front to screw it in a little and the friction is just right - easy enough to do with one hand while holding the keys, but not so easy that it will turn on accidentally. It has two brightness levels, the first is a low light that is enough to illuminate the immediate area but not blind you. The full setting is surprisingly bright, enough to see well 50 yards or more.

It has a rechargeable battery that uses the now-universal micro USB phone charger. The charging jack is accessed by unscrewing the front until it pops forward under light spring pressure. In addition to the jack, there is an LED that goes from red to green when it's fully charged.

Very handy, very compact, about $16 on Amazon. I bought a couple more just to have in reserve in case they stop making them, or add some useless stupid feature like a strobe setting.
